If I lived in Nebraska? You bet your ass I would!

That is a big part of the answer for why Nebraska and part of the problem for why not North Texas. Nebraska does not share their local media nor their state with any other 1-A program or Pro sports. UNT shares Texas and local media with 8 other 1-A programs and numerous Pro teams. DFW's interest is swayed by disproportional media interests in Pro and Big12 sports.

I totally agree but winning and creating buzz has a big part of it too. When you are winning you also need the right people to reach out for the University. Again I totally agree with your comments but it can be done. Look at TCU.

Isnt this kind of beating a gift horse?

Not really. A product of their environment. Move North Texas to Lincoln and the Huskers out and watch our attendance go up. I'm not saying, just saying.

For as much as TCU has won in the past 10 years they still only average ~30K.

True but their enrollment is like about 8K. Even the Hurricanes dont sell out a lot of games mainly cuz their student body is pretty small.

There's really not much to do in Nebraska but tend to frostbite, shuck corn, and fornicate.

Gotta spend your money somehow.

Of course only one of those costs money.

Yes; and that is what makes UNT's attendance so pitiful. We only average about half (17K) of our student enrollment (34K). I doubt there are many 1-A schools with that stat, maybe the FU's?
