It's a good thing there was no "Can't we hold hands and talk about this" attitude with this guy.

Frisco man wounded in shootout with home intruder

BY BILL MILLERwmiller@star-telegram.com

A Frisco man was wounded in the arm while exchanging gunfire with a home intruder, according to police.

Steven Geddie, 24, told police he arrived home from work around 6 p.m. and later heard someone breaking in the rear door of his home in the 8400 Block of Hickory Street.

He grabbed a shotgun and met the intruder in the hall near a bedroom, Sgt. Gerald Meadors stated in a news release.

"Mr. Geddie stated the intruder fired two rounds at him from a small caliber pistol and (he) fired one round from his shotgun at the intruder, who then fled out of the residence," Meadors said. "Mr. Geddie received a minor wound to the left arm and refused medical transport to the hospital."

Geddie said the intruder was Hispanic or Oriental, but he had a red bandanna over his face, Meadors said. The man wore a blue Dallas Cowboys cap, grey and white jacket, and jeans, he said.

It was unclear if the intruder was wounded by the shotgun blast.

"The motive for the shooting is unknown," Meadors said.

Anyone with information about the incident can call police at 972-292-6010.

Excuse me Lifer, didn't see your post until after I posted mine.

No problem. I chose not to comment being afraid it would be removed. Kuddos to the homeowner.

These types of robberies just make me sick - I know it happens all day long, but I guess I just don't understand the mentality you have to have to go robbing homes.

Here's the mentality in a nutshell.

"Why not invade the sanctity of someone else's home? Chances are I won't be caught. If I do get caught some bleeding heart will sit on my jury and my attorney can explain how 'misunderstood' I am or how my momma never hugged me enough. Oh, by the way, my momma will be the first person in line to bail me out and complain to any media outlet who will listen (which is all of them) about how I was treated too roughly by police when I was taken into custody. Should I come face to face with the home owner while in his home I'll just shoot him. I won't get the needle for capital murder because I'll tell the jury about my long-time drug use and how I'm a victim of the things it makes me do. I sure am glad concepts like personal responsibility and accountability are archaic in the 21st century."

How in the heck do you miss someone with a shotgun? Sounds like Frisco homeowner should take a Dick Cheney shotgun safety course and earn his badge in dead-eye dickness. (Cue Qouner.)

I would imagine he got the shot off late if inside the house the crook had room to duck through a door, just a guess. That and he (the homeowner) was getting shot at.

A shotgun isn't magical. This guy was probably within 20 feet of intruder and at that distance the shot probably has spread out to about 4 inches or so at the most. Add the lose of eye hand coordination and fine motor control that most experience under high stress situations...

True. He probably had a long, full choke, loaded for game variety. As opposed to something like the Mosberg Persuader 12GA pump. If you are ever looking for a good home protection weapon it's fantastic. Short barrel and holds 7 + 1. (Plug removed of course so don't carry it in the field.) I believe many police forces carry this same weapon in patrol. It's what you'd always see locked down near the radio in the front. Oh and it's incredibly affordable.

Per the news tonight and an interview with the homeowner, that looked exactly like what he had with the pistol grip and #1 buckshot. He turned around to go back out of his bedroom from where he retrieved the shotgun and the robber met him at the bedroom door and got off two shots, one hitting him in the shoulder, which caused the homeowner to fall and drop the shotgun. He then picked it up while laying on the ground and shot in the robber's direction but by that time he had turned and ran towards the outside door down the hallway. The shotgun blast missed just to the right of the door where the guy was exiting.

Man, I'm just wrong on all counts.

Sounds like the homeowner was lucky. And the bad guy was inexplicably lucky.

Well, thank goodness he didn't shoot the robber in the back. The left wing would have a field day with that. <_<

I think once you've been winged, as the homeowner was, all bets are off.
