I hope we land him , we need all the inside help we can get next year. Right now , I'm expecting a .500 type of season next year unless we land an IMPACT player.

UNT athletic director Rick Villarreal said that he has received a few applications

Who wouldn't want this job... I think it's good job security and the expectations are low. The last person who held this post only had 6 winning season out of 19 ,

Eric Tramiel scored 15 points and secured 12 rebounds in Paris' 74-67 win over Vincennes IN at the NJCAA National Championship Tournament earlier today.

It appears he would be an excellent pickup, but I wonder why anyone would think the competition for his services is all that intense based on the information provided. There is no reason that NT should not be the top of the list of the schools mentioned. About half of the schools mentioned are Belt teams and few of the others are exactly powerhouses. If NT is to ever going to get anywhere in BB, it going to at least be able to contend with the other so called mid-majors for recruits.

As far as the women's BB coach, I would hope with over a year to prepare, that our AD is not as ill prepared as the few articles I've read seem to indicate. He should definitely have a short list of capable candidates if not an almost done deal at this point.

While perhaps not ppowerhouses Weber State and George Mason were the schools that sort of impressed me. Both have been somewhat regular NCAA participants over the last 10-15 years.

What does this tell you? It tells me all I need to know.

I think you may be confusing these schools' football cache wit their relative appeal as basketball schools. As CMJ already pointed out Weber St and George Mason, while not perennial final four teams, have some skins (more than we do) on the wall to point to...especially George Mason from just a few years ago. And even the Sun Belt teams that are after him can still make the exact same claim that we can, If we have a good season and win the Belt we go dancing.

I am confused a lot, but not about this. It is my opinion if NT cannot effectively recruit against this level of schools, than little progress has been made since the Southland Conference. NT may not get this player if in fact they really want him, but it's not exactly like NT is recruiting against the ACC or any other conference above Belt level. There are definitely few schools that have been playing division 1 basketball for half a century that don't have more skins on the wall than NT.
