Football related thread in the recruiting board are moving to the football board.

The VIP section is sucking away traffic and general conversations about football. The intent of the "VIP" recruiting board was to talk about the insider details of recruiting, without impacting the process... not to have conversations that those "not in the know" aren't privy to.

So, the threads and reordering took place..

I would also say the fact that everyones only talks about the same five things all the time is having a big impact as well.

But what do I know? i just post porn and make NC-17 jokes.

Here is my presidential sounding answer: "I can only control the things I can control."

I can't stop people from talking about helmet stickers, stadium funding, uniforms, fonts, merchandise or SMU.

The only reason someone wasn't "in the know" was because they didn't have access, access controlled by you and the other mods. I suggest a separate VIP board because many appreciate the ability to discuss topics with those we know and see at events without the typical hijacking that goes on. Some of those threads had postings by some who didn't care for the general public to see.

The threads left on the "privacy board" are made of nothing more that public info via scout or rivals.com. Doesn't take a genius to be able to type in www.scout.com and go to NORTH TEXAS then hit prospects.

You want to protect the recruiting process ?? What a good Idea to move something like the Stadium talk to the public forum. I'm sure if a recruit were to ever read the public forum ( which I doubt anyway) than I'm sure reading about how most of our fans DO NOT think the NEW STADIUM is a reality is a great idea!

TD: Don't worry about Fouts , you will only have to play in that dump for 1 more year , until our new stadium is built.

Future Recruit: But all those guys on gmg.com say UNT is dragging it's feet and that there will not be a new stadium.

Lack of traffic could be due to the.... off season maybe ????

Well, that is a good point.. It has been moved back.

However, the trend of having private boards within the site isn't good. We don't want to be a hilltopperhaven.com..

No, I didn't make the rules on the VIP board, nor am I the one to grant access. That is all Harry and it was based upon the ability to read recruiting info (that hasn't been listen on scout.com).

Thanks , I think that a " new stadium" has to be a recruiting tool used by the coaches to possible players. No need to show all the negative thoughts of that idea by students and alumni

I'll say this. In my experience if you have an "in crowd" only board, then the general public board is terrible and we don't draw in new people. That leads to board death.

Harry and I are working on alot of things, one of them how to keep a private board but at the same time make the public board able to attract new people.

I wonder if I cheer extra hard...... maybe I could be a good enough Mean Green fan to be privy to top secret GMG threads. I'm going to start by watching my 02 season recap DVD in bed tonight.

This is another reason I don't love the VIP board. It creates a have/have not system.

Then we should never be critical of a player because players have access to all other parts of this board.

You can be critical of a players performance if you chose to, but you can't launch into a personal attack.

I agree most topics should be on the public board but when someone starts a topics and places it in the VIP area it's probably because they don't want non-members to have access.

My advise if it's placed on the VIP board and you think it belongs in the general area ask the topic starter why it's there before moving it you never know why they want the info protected.

Non-Members can't see this board (Non-UNT Sports). The VIP board is for super top secret, highly classified, confidential posts.
