I went in the Drug Emporium after Church yesterday (Sun) and the wife unit pointed out some North Texas tiles (cosaters) in 3 different patterns. There were some from zero U, Texas, A & M as well, but nore had more than one design other than NT. They also had some plug in night lights (like for a hall or bathroom) with the NT logo.

We're taking over.

YIPPEE!!!!! Go Mean Green! When you have made Drug Emporium you have made the "big time"! Good to see the Mean Green Nation getting some "stuff" in the stores...any stores, any where...thanks Greenjoe for letting us know! :clapping:

You know we're in the off-season when...

true, but I was referring to a day when UNT gear is all over the metroplex, not just at select drugstores. Houston has Rice and UH stuff everywhere. Dont see why DFW and UNT would be any different. But, it's a dead horse... sigh...

I'm working overtime at Station 21 near TCU today. We went to the local Albertsons at the corner of Berry and University, just down and across the street from campus and their new bookstore and you should see the purple. Purple flags in the parking lot with TCU Horned Frog flags flying at each light pole. Inside all the employees wear Purple Albertson uniforms. Along nearly the entire north wall is TCU gear of everything you would see at a book/fan/gifts strore. EVERYTHING. At the center of the store they have TCU gear displays that include TCU purple tailgating tents and lawnchairs(dozens of the chairs) and the trim all along the walls inside the store is purple.

I remember going to eat there with my older sister when I was 9 or 10. It was cool!!

No reason why WalMart, Albertson, etc in Denton can't look the exact same way. Any way possible you could snap a pic and forward to our marketing dept?

I hate to complain about anyone that we hired via USM but the marketing/promotions portion of the staff came from there and that seems to be our weakest output. What's worse, the AD has managed a surplus the last two years so it's not as if we have no money. And, if we won't spend the money on promotion and marketing then why do we need expensive staff for it?

How about giving every student who attends UNT sporting events a FREE shirt with 'Greenbacker' on it? It might encourage them to come back and, who knows, maybe others to follow.

Maybe there is no market for it

no no no no no, its a marketing problem. More flyers = better attendance. Green walls = more merch sales. Hellooooo

You're right, NT sux so lets just keep doing things the way we always have. Hell, lets just aspire to be in the same league as NCTC.

There's no way of knowing if they don't ever try it.

Call them or ask them if they have ever looked into this. Or, call them and show them your ideas and the ROI on them.

I am by far no AD apologist, but of all the improvements that have come the last few years, I am pretty sure more t-shirts and more posters were not at the source of them.

Im not sure how a sarcastic response about the relative (in)effectiveness of grassroots marketing on a Div 1 program lead you to believe I thought UNT sucks. As far as I know NCTC doesn't field a football team, so I doubt very seriously we'd ever be in their league. Though we are a hell of a bargain, as far as tuition is concerned...

I guess I'm just a cranky, sarcastic, old SOB when it comes to hearing the same crap about NT for the last 20 years.

I don't believe that stuffing a store full of NT gear is in any way seen as marketing or even promotions. We need a team to come up with a badass looking shirt, hat, coolie, etc. and make it seem so cool that everybody (even people with no affiliation to NT) just has to have one.

Oh Im agree, great shirts and hats are a must, but there's an underlying reason why people dont flock in droves to buy the stuff- and it doesnt have anything to do with branding or marketing. That's the point.

Someone in Denton will have to put forth the effort since I now live in Houston.
