Praise the Lord! Now, it can be determined on where the Winnebago is going to take the Athletic Program.

It was time, she had been here too long and not done near enough. It was just time for a change. It will be interesting to see who RV brings in here. I have faith that it will be a great hire. One to keep the athletics program on the up and up.

IMO, Coach Slinker lasted 19 years because she is a decent person who runs a clean program. Her teams had moments and some really good players over the years. She just never seemed to be able to kick it up a notch. She deserves our thanks for her service. I wish her well in her next coaching position.

As well as i recall, tina was hired when Corky Nelson, the AD about 20 years ago,

married the NT women's bb coach. The school said there would be a division of

interest if the AD was married to a head coach. So, Corky's wife, "pressured"

him to hire someone to fill the job that she could still control. They hired Tina

at a minimum salary from TT, where she was on the staff, and we got someone

who was a good person, but couldn't coach or recruit, much less work in the

community. Corky and his wife left shortly after and we were stuck with a

losing mentallity for the last 19 years.

RV did the right thing in not renewing her contract. The bad thing will be going

to the bb banquet this year and listening to her cry about leaving. I just hope

I can contain by excitiment about her leaving.

We now have a chance to "round out" our program with more coaches who are

winners and who can bring a positive attitude to NT. We are a sleeping giant

that RV is helping to move in the right direction. Go Mean Green!

I think you will find that Judy Nelson was head coach at the time, Corky was fired. It is well past time for a coaching change, but thus far; Tina has remained a class act even through the firing. IMO, RV made an unnecessary mess out of this whole situation. There was no reason to put Slinker, the staff, and team through this lame duck season. Signing four players in the early recruiting period also makes little sense knowing that there was only a very remote chance that the coaching staff would remain.

I give Skinker, the team and a thrown together coaching staff; high marks for just surviving the season with integrity intact.

On the positive side, the new coach will inherit a good nucleus of players. NT should have a very strong senior class next year with 4 starters returning.

lamb duck season.

MMM...lamb duck.

I too can't wait to point and laugh at a woman who lost her job at a banquet as she says goodbye. I also enjoy hitting puppies with my car.

Is that anything like turducken?

Perhaps we can invite Ahman Green to provide a shoulder to cry on? Try mowing kittens. Meow!

Agree, seems like we kept her around another year just to keep from having to pay double salary. Should have happened last year. Now a new coach will have another's recruits to deal with.
