With regard to NMNSHLD's (what does that mean ? ) comment about NTTV not having the manpower to cut highlights, I would think that manpower is exactly what NTTV has plenty of. I can't believe that every RTvF major is busy and unable to help with getting information, in this case NT basketball, to local stations. Something they will do in their careers. Regardless as to how the RTvF students feel about their University or basketball in general, this is good experience for them. And that would transfer to good exposure for North Texas.

When I say not enough manpower, I mean not enough willing manpower. I can't force anyone to volunteer at NTTV, they have to have the passion to help out. Plus most of the RTVF students are film students, or they are more into the talent side of broadcasting. I do agree that they SHOULD help, but I cant force them.

But I am trying to build up NTTV Sports and next semester should big for us.

The same person that Babe gave a shout out to last night?

Its good to be the king.

Channel 11 has a strategically placed NT alum who does his best to get us on as often as possible. Trust my inside sources.

Channel 5 has an alum that could help as well. Trust my inside sources!

Brendan Higgins anchors NBC 5 Today from 5-7 am and NBC 5 DFW Today from 10-11 a.m.

Let me throw in another possible wrinkle. Since this was a tournament game, the conference may own the rights to distribute any clips from the game.

I know that Coach Jones could not interview with our own broadcast team due to conference rules. Instead, Assistant Coach Tic Price had to handle post-game comments.

Channel 5 has an afternoon producer as well....but not so much on the evening crew

Telling posters to stop griping here and goto the right place could be applied to nearly every offseason thread. That's what the board is here for.

Posters should reread the MUST READ:Forum Rules once and awhile. The forum states what this board is here for and what is not allowed. Reading postings about what is allowed is a great reading experience. A few posters go to great length to provide insight into local high school talent. Some provide out-of-region stats on players and teams. Others provide outstanding "what if" scenarios.

I have tried to get 15 people who have graduated from here to read and log on as a member. Each and every one of them asked me what the hell for. Every time they begin to read an interesting post, they stated the post becomes watered down with poster slang and sick humor. They stated that the board isn't for UNT fans, it is for the 5 to 10 ticket wanabes. They can get the same information elsewhere with out the hassel of reading everybodys griping.

With 30,000 plus students and many times that in grads, this should not only be the place to pick up decent information, it should also be the place to build a fan base for all sports. That is definitely not happening here. Look at the polls and count the 54 votes. There should be thousands of votes. So, keep allowing posters to run this sports venue into the ground, and keep potential alum from participating and see what you have in a year or two. If I am noticing this, then this is just the tip if the iceberg. Go Mean Grean

Complaints about the media coverage, attendance or a lack of(in other threads) shortfalls in facilities(media problems with the Super Pit), all of those complaints are valid but the reasons given are completely off the mark and the corrections to them are even further.

Fix THE PROBLEM, the OVERALL PROBLEM and you'll correct all the little ones mentioned earlier. Develop a unviversity in which it's alumni and students are proud of. Stop the bleeding by selling North Texas as the CHEAP, AFFORDABLE degree then allowing people to come and walk away with that degree without building any kind of emotional tie to the school, never to return or donate another dime in the future. Build a university in which the children of alumni are being raised and taught to aspire to attend North Texas when they grow up. Mine are, how about yours? Mine loves Scrappy, does yours? Mine want to do good in school so that they can go to North Texas some day, does yours? Mine want to play basketball and football and softball so that they can be a Mean Green athlete some day. Does yours? That's what we have to build and it starts with raising the money by utilizing the ONE freaking thing we have available to us: LARGE NUMBERS OF PEOPLE.

Do this and many of our current problems will go away.

Oh, and by the way, since I got home so late after the game last night I didn't get to post my usual victory photo.

---Rick and I are saying the same things. GET BUTTS INTO SEATS and make the media look like we are interested and that the area is interested in North Texas as well..

---If they left off the UT and Aggie highlights they would be swamped with calls... leave us off and there will be little outrage and maybe no calls or emails. Those can be effective as well if there are a lot of them. One of my favorite quotes is: "Ask for nothing and that is exactly what you will get..nothing"..

---Basketball crowds need to be made up largely of student-fans because alot of the games are mid-week games and people who are far away cannot and will not go very much (unless they very rabid). The current attendence by students is awful compared to what they what it once was. I understand we did not have a zillion TV stations to watch then .... but attending sporting events is part of what make college fun and creates memories. Ask any UT grad.

Not exactly true. Usually students are given about a fourth of the seats AT MOST(with occasional exceptions like a Duke where it's probably more like a third) - so attendence is largely dependent on residents and alumni.
