Hey Evan have you and Harry ever considered redesigning the the GMG website to include the podcasts and the new blog under "one roof?"

Well we are considering several things....The Podcasts will still be hosted on a Podcast only page for easy access to past episodes, but we will post them on the lounge site too. As far as having everything hosted together it's a little more complicated, but we hope to make improvements during the off-season.

We are open to suggestions and welcome any feedback on the the lounge, podcasts or anything else.

Part of the problem is this: GMG.com more then likely is running on a UNIX/Linix box with MySQL for a DBMS (Database Mgmt System). I suspect that Mean Green Podcasts and The Mean Green Lounge both run on a Windows Server box, judging by the *.aspx page extensions, which makes merging the three rather difficult.

It be far easier to merge the podcast and lounge sites together as it looks like they both use the same blogging software or software made by the same developer, based on appearance.

It is possible to do, but given the probable size of the gmg.com DB, moving it would be a real chore. Pruning the DB might be in order, but I don't think it be worth the work to do something like that just to move it over to a Windows box. Running PHP on a Windows box isn't as stable as it is UNIX/Linux, so gmg.com's performance might suffer due to moving to a server with a completely different OS.

Something I've thought gmg.com should look to possibly do in the future is get a dedicated server for the sole reason of being able to serve pages to all visitors when page hits are high. It gets expensive, but maybe there is someone out there willing to sell service on a decent server for a reasonable cost.
