Greetings, Mean Green fans.

This past weekend, I posted a draft bill for the Student Senate to consider a student referendum approving an athletic fee. I also sent copies to several student Senators, emailed Rick V, Dr. B , and Chancellor Jackson and asked everyone how they felt about such a proposal. Many of you were very supportive and offered good advice on how to proceed.

After email exchanges with several school administrators and phone conversations with current and former SGA members, I feel that a "wait and see" approach is appropriate for now. There is work going on behind the scenes. I don't think this is a big secret, but I was told a couple of key items that made me feel good about what is coming.

So, hang tight. There is a light at the end of this long, dark tunnel.

I hate to do it, because I can't stand those "I know something you don't know" posters. But I don't think it would be appropriate to reveal the specific action items that were told to me.

I think a couple of the folks that I spoke with were afraid I was going to jump the gun on plans being made. I certainly didn't want to do that either, which is why I followed the advice of many GMG.com posters and put out some feelers... there are people far smarter than me in the Athletic Department, Student Senate, and UNT Administration who are experienced at this sort of thing.

I was really wanting to get the ball rolling next semester. But I will say that after all of these conversations, I feel good about the plan.

Glean what you will from that. :)

BTW, I am really looking forward to some BASKETBALL CHAT tonight. ;)

Here, I've got all the details. It keeps all the bureaucrats in their comfort zone.

It's just too bad because it's actually the major surgery of a heart implant that is needed.
