I took them in the order listed even if it was stated in no particular order.

1. Houston 86

3. UTEP 70

If that turns out to be your only vote, it's worth 11 which would advance them to #11 as it now stands. It's not exactly 54 but it's a good start.

The New Big 8 Conference

1. North Texas

2. Texas

3. Texas A&M

4. Texas Tech

5. LSU

6. Arkansas

7. Oklahoma

8. Oklahoma State

As crazy and impossible as that would be it is the only honest reply so far. Everyone else is trying to be some what realistic with their picks instead of going for the best possible conference. It's kind embarrassing that we even censor our dreams.

I would add

Kansas

Missouri

Nebraska

Colorado

Ranking in order of preference, first to last:

Memphis

Houston

SMU

Rice

Southern Miss

Louisiana Tech

Tulane

Tulsa

Arkansas State

Louisiana

Troy

I left out TCU because I think there is no way. Memphis, probably real unlikely but not totally gone. Big East football is the PITTs.

Here is a 12-team conference I'd like to see:

East Division:

Troy

Memphis

Southern Miss

Arkansas State

Louisiana Tech

Tulane

West Division:

NT

Houston

Rice

SMU

Tulsa

Louisiana

Poor MT and Northeast get left out. If only MT would change their name; same with UAB. UTEP, name problem and way out west. NMSU just too far from the rest also.

One thing though is the above conference may be too concentrated, though there is a lot of talent in the area covered.

I say leave out UTEP and NMSU. Too far!

UNT

Houston

TCU

SMU

Tulsa

Rice

Baylor

La Tech

ULL

Tulane

Ark St

ULM

(yes I know we aren't supposed to touch the big conferences, but someone reconstructed a new Big 12 so I can steal Baylor, dammit)

And the name is the Southwest Conference. There would be 4 SWC former members, so why not resurrect a name with instant recognition.

I think that UNT vs Houston would be an awesome rivalry to develop (even as an OOC tradition).

In the latest update I'm only going to list the Top 11 without the points.

Houston

SMU

TCU

UTEP

Rice

Tulsa

New Mexico State

Southern Miss

Arkansas State

Tulane

Louisiana Tech

There are four others in very close proximity to the #11 spot....Louisiana-Lafayette, Troy, Memphis and Middle Tennessee. In the event of a tie for the 11th spot, the winner will be the one named on the most ballots.

I think this way you have the obvious geographical rivalries, thus increasing fan interest; you will have regional TV; you have a good football conference, a good basketball conference, and a good baseball conference. You have schools that are in similar condition within their athletic departments. Also, when it comes to scheduling, you don't have many OOC games, or bodybag games! I'm all for it!

Take out Houston and Tulane and you have a pretty good shot at making that work....
