I am very surprised by the results of this poll. I voted no and expected the vote to be like 90 percent yes. Interesting that it is 50/50.

There is no way we will have a new stadium in three and a half years. I hope I am so very wrong.

I voted Yes, mainly because I want it, and I think there is pressure to get it going. The University needs the Fouts land in the not too distant future for the core campus MasterPlan, more reason for the BOR to help with the stadium issue. BTW, I heard the Sack-n-Save next to McDonalds may be UNT land someday soon...more highway frontage! I'd like UNT to take over that whole corner.

The Exxon station and Ihop are supposedly history too! Oh man, there goes some history!

You read that stuff? I just scroll right on by it.

And you know, UNTFan23, that is just one of the percs of being a citizen of this great country of ours, now isn't it? Speaking of our great country, I hope whovever gets elected president this November is not so much of a die-hard "dove" that we have future 9-11's on our horizon. I also don't think an attitude of "lets just all set in a circle and quote our favorite verses from the Koran" is hardy going to get the job done, either. We need a strong leader and that's for damn sure. Check out today's news in Serbia if you need even further proof.

Pardon me now while I, uh, scroll by your stuff.

Seriously, you need to be less cryptic. Because the possiblities (depending on who you are talking to) are unlimited.

Silver, it's pretty well spelled out in the VIP forum. (and for you non-VIP's, think bunny and the pillow)

What is or where is the VIP forum?? Obviously I'm a non-VIP!

RV has got to get some sleep!!

I've read this statement 15 times and it makes no sense to me. Help.

RV said he lays awake at night thinking about the stadium. He won't sleep 'till we get one.

I hate myself.

Bump...my super secret inside source told me some would vote "yes" and others would vote "no."

Very very insightful, I applaud you for all your effort. Wow

Now there is a post I can get behind and believe in.

That's because mine are not only posts you can believe in...they're posts you can Xerox.

Have you noticed, only 123 people have voted in the poll? And what is worse is it is just about evenly split.

Which is one reason I've questioned whether this poll would be meaningful. Those who will determine the future of UNT football (and it's home stadium) are not the relatively small number of those who post on this board, but the far greater number who attended home games in increasing numbers and are going from being less involved to more involved.

Not sure on that? "more involved" to me would be those who read and post on North Texas' number one fan message board, not the countless new folks who are just now showing up. Now, you are right in that those new faces who are just now showing up may "believe" more that a stadium is on the way over those who post here. But then again, they are "just now showing up".

More telling to me concerning the split is troubling, in that only half of those who I would consider more INFORMED "believe" in the current administrations abilities.

It came to me in a dream, like dense green gas rolling in off the swamp on a hot summer's night.

In my dream I saw into the Future, it is a bright future ahead for the Mean Green Nation. With a wonderful new stadium filled with 40,000 screaming North Texas fans and two wide format JumboTrons. Many of the fans are hot belly paint girls, and the rest is a sea of green loud chanting fans. It seems we have changed conferences in this near future though I could not make out what the new conference is, but we seem very happy about it. We are once again beating the hell out of Tech.

Pipe dream or prophecy of sorts? I don't know, BUT I BELIEVE IN THE MEAN GREEN!!! Hallelujah!

Why did I vote "YES":

1. We have an architect and a $300k plan coming

2. UNT bought all that land across I-35

3. The university has posted a position, Director of Major Gifts, with the job description requiring experience in raising funds for large athletics projects

4. The changes recently announced for the Mean Green Club

I know everyone wants the BIG announcement now... but I after putting all these pieces together, I can't imagine that the stadium is not going to happen

I voted yes; after all TXDOT wants at least some of the land where our present stadium is located. Plus, there's a lot of wriggle room in the original post, such as what "have a new stadium by 2011" actually means; i.e, by December 31, 2010, ready by the opening game of the 2011 season, etc. I think the real question is, "What will a new stadium be like, and what kind of input will UNT football supporters have in its design?"

More involved to me would be those who support the administration. There are several great posters who present actual sports information. They give readers insight into such things as how the basketball season may play out, what positions on the football team have been filled, types of stadium projects in progress.

There are also several posters who do not support the administration. They present their soft porn jokes, harshly criticize UNT employees, and whine about things not going their way. I, for one, really like seeing the various polls. It shows just how many people read the message board and care to vote.

A long way of going about that you agree with me then?

I don't think there are many people who don't believe the stadium will happen - the real frustration is when it happens. It's been three years away for five years now. I think even most of the no voters believe we will get it but have just learned to filter out the short term positive signs. Am I crazy or am I just posting more "soft porn?"

TxDOT has noting to do with the stadium. No land is desired nor will be granted in the I35 project. Only the entrance and exit that is/was Avenue D will be affected.
