A couple of interesting points in today's DMN:

1) Even though,....Kidd is 35....and as you age, you lose some foot speed and strength.......his passing skills won't decline. And, that may be his forte.

2) He is averaging 8.1 rpg....which would make him the second best rebounder on the Mavs (behind Dirk).

Looking forward to watching this game tonight.

I foresee some balls (basketballs) bouncing off of Dampier's head or through his hands unless they've already warned Kidd about him. Theres probably gonna be quite a few frustrating moments as a team used to standing around the horn shooting jumpers adjusts to a PG that actually wants to distribute. This is the first time in about 2 years that I've been excited about watching a MAVS regular season game.

For anyone who wasn't stupid enough to think this game was a win and it all would click, you saw flashes of how much easier the offense is about to be to Dirk. He dunked a few times and had looks that he used to had to struggle for. Howard and Terry didn't seem to click with what was happening yet, but Dampier was better than expected (I had bet friends he would take a ball to the face before the game was over.) It will take a few weeks for this to get going, and probably this summer to fully compliment it, but you can see the potential underneath the crappy fourth quarter.

In the mean time, should we all crap our pants in fear of Kurt Thomas to SA?

Good points. I figured it would take a while for the Mavs to get their chemistry with Jason. BTW.....Devin Harris is hurt, and out for 2 weeks.

Not letting go of Steve Nash and Michael Finley.....

We would have won a title or tow by now

Finley??? Maybe if we had held on to Raef LaFrentz and Ced Caballos we'd be a dynasty by now.

Don't get me started. I'm pissed we gave up on Antoine Rigaduea (sp) and Wang Zhi Zhi too soon.

It doesn't make one crazy to note that Kidd also has his career high in turnovers and career low in shooting.. And what I saw last night supported that.

We have a weakness in PG depth. The Kidd trade didn't address that situation, it just created another depth problem at center.

So, no panic here. I will let it play out. I am not tearing up my season tickets or anything..

So, are the Mavs in the Gary Payton sweepstakes now? 2halloffamepointguards1team

I think being hogtied with a 40 mill salary luxury tax burden puts us out of that...

However, picking up a Sam Cassell (reunite the old Mavs) as a vet backup.. I would be willing to listen.

Yeah, but we still have this year's exception for a guard and big man. Payton would get the minimum 1.2 and then have $4M for a PJ Brown or something...unless...from ESPN:

The Mavericks know they need a size infusion on the front line behind Erick Dampier after surrendering DeSagana Diop in the Jason Kidd deal, and they're exploring a market that features the likes of Diogu and Minnesota's Michael Doleac. But Dallas would seemingly prefer to wait until after the trading deadline, when the pool of available big men could conceivably get deeper after a few player buyouts. The Mavs have two roster spots open and all of their $5.2 million midlevel exception to use to fill them.

I don't understand the move of waiving Nick Fauzekas. He was doing great in the developmental league....and then they just dump him.

They had to free a roster spot for the original trade and he had the lowest cap hit by far. He could easily be back after everything settles - if he wants to.

Cuban said PJ Brown uses the same agent as Devean George, so he wouldn't even consider using him.. As Jerry Jones says, "Don't let you money get mad." Dale Davis? Yikes. Gary Payton.. dunno.. never really liked the guy. No solid reasons for not wanting him.
