She got the job because she knew people, andshe got the promotion for the same reason....

I still can't believe she has a job here at North Texas, I mean what do you have to do to get fired at the Athletics Dept.

The entire alumni group hates her and she is now involved in fundraising, hate to say it but ouch for future fundraising.....

LATE WEDNESDAY MORNING UPDATE &...

............EAGLE DROPPINGS!

To put this in another perspective, we are only needing to hire (hopefully) heavy-hitter fundraisers who will have to raise more monies than probably the last 5 UNT presidents combined.

So is this another "ho hum" athletic dept. hire? It better not be, we have meida guides from the last 25 years which will show us what that did for us. Of course, there are exceptions. Do we need to put such an ad for this all important hire in the Denton Record-Chronicle or the Post Office bulletin board near the Courthouse Square? Surely we won't do this to ourselves or will we? This cannot be another "good ol' boy" hire or we will have for all of us who call themselves another mucked up affair that we will only waddle thru the molloases of "we do it slowly but surely at North Texas" as yet another M.O. for our school.

Do we learn from past mistakes from past UNT AD's and UNT administrations as well as past Board of Regents in good ol' Denton, Texas? Well, look at all the schools we used to be in bed with athletically who have long since passed us by for that answer. Yet we just keep on doing what we do quite well at North Texas and we keep doing it the same ol' way which will all but guarantee we will soon see other schools be passing us by. NOTE: Outside the announcement of a Super Big Donor, anyone want to show a trend that indicates otherwise?

Some sectors of higher education obviously need to sometimes look at how businesses of similar size as UNT (which for all practical purposed can easily be called Big Business) go about doing their high profile hires and start realizing that hiring buddies from other past jobs, jocks or someone who made All Whatever Conference for 4 years running and are...........Good Ol' Boys/Girls may not be the best kind of hire at UNT for this job that needs to be properly filled. Can some of our officials in Denton just not see the trees for the forest with the way we do so many things up there? YET FOR THESE NEW HIRES.....we are asking them to raise monies to build a 35K or 40K seat stadium. I'm still amazed at some of the pedigree of names I am seeing on all this who we are asking to do some very lofty things; quite frankly, it's almost depressing.

One of the best kind of hires we could hire for these special kind of fundraisers would be those who start out their new job already having the good contacts with most of those being here in the Lone Star State (insert sublimenal potential Fund-Raising Consultant Hayden Fry/Bill Blakely).

The aforementiond 2 former coaches & UNT employees who have nothing named after them in Denton have forgoteen more Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex Movers & Shakers, ie, potential Big Donors than I suspect we still have on most of our A list of potential Big Donors at our main campus. Its one thing to have such Big Donor types names on a UNT fundraising "A List" but its another thing to realize that we probably have few who personally know these people like Fry's 11 years as a Southern Methodist University AD/HFC allowed him to meet. Also, Bill Blakely with his Dallas ties would be quite helpful to. YET.............why in Hades do we at UNT avoid those in our arsenal of past decades who can help us build a freakin' new football stadium? Surely none of the reasons would have anything to do with pride & egos (as some of us have long suspected). Well, we are still talking about a new football stadium while FIU is already building theirs.

GOL' DARN IT, FOLKS--WE NEED A FREAKIN' NEW FOOTBALL STADIUM IN DENTON SO THOSE WHO MAY POSSIBLY BE GUILTY OF AN OVER-ABUNDANCE OF TOO MUCH PRIDE & EGO AS TO NOT ALLOW THOSE WHO CAN HELP UNT WITH THIS NEW STADIUM BUSINESS TO, WELL, HELP US WITH THIS ENORMOUS VENTURE............. PLEASE ON A DAILY BASIS LEAVE ALL THAT OTHER STUFF AT THE ENTRANCE OF OUR CAMPUS ON YOUR WAY TO WORK CAUSE FALSE PRIDE & AIMLESS EGOS HAVE YET TO BUILD ANY MAJOR UNIVERSITY A MAJOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL STADIUM YET, NOW HAVE THEY; AND ESPECIALLY A UNIVERSITY LIKE NORTH TEXAS.

If we hire those who we traditonally have been hiring at UNT and those who basically turn out to be "on the job trainees" or "fund-raiser novices", then folks, we could be in for (still) quite a long, tedious haul with even more delays that could be very counter-productive to raising our Phoenix from the desert sands or even such delays being a thread to our future NCAA D1-A coexistance.

Yet again...........we have some SBC schools who spent absolutely no time discussing (and cussing) a new stadium but already have construction going happening as we hire fundraisers to raise monies to eventually get ours started (in the sweet by & by), albeit one such SBC school has an erector set style stadium rising from the foundations with small capacities. Such small capacities which will eventually land-lock or guarantee them a future in what will be a souped up NCAA D1-AA (which will be given some other new fancy name that only tries to prevent reminding all their fans/followers what level of non-revenue football their school has fallen trap to).

Wake up & smell the coffee, North Texas, our future depends on who we are hiring now who will not be here in 10 years; well, in most cases they won't, that is, since UNT is not where most productive, upward bound would-be Big 12 or Big 10 or SEC hires will want to stay forever and FWIW........

........if they stay in Denton way too long, then there is most likley a shake'y & most tenuous marriage going on between both staffer and instutution. After reading this board from some of our best customers who expect humane customer service, it seems some of the aforementioned from some at UNT might just be the problem.

Looking at UNT athletic media guides of varsity sports hirings (and many ancillery staff hirings) of the last 25 years, one can surmise quickly that hiring has just not been one of our strengths for UNT athletics. Yes, we have had a few exceptions to the rule, but way too few. Can we hope for a small miracle this time around, perhaps?

In essence, this cannot be a "stick this job up on the bulletin board" at Starbucks type of hiring, sports fans. Am surprised that it almost seems to be just that already with some names already thrown out on this.

Who was it that said...... "if you keep doing things the same o' way & the same o' way you've always done them, then you will keep getting the same o' results? :(

No, the job has been posted since July.

oh but you forgot cursing the supporters of the program and basically pissing on the University as it is the toughest place to coach in America, not forgetting to restrain your OC from verbally attacking alumni.
