Who you got to win the Daytona 500 today which flag-drops the start of the '08 season? I predict Carl Edwards No. 99 Ford Fusion crosses first. Although I've never cared much for any of the Earnhardts, Junior is now driving in Green, so you gotta like that.

Who you got?

Great race. The end was all about that last re-start, and when Kyle (Jerkoff) Busch botched the restart, Earnhardt was screwed as he was right behind him.

...I've always been a Dale Jr. guy, and I'm REALLY happy he's wearin' Green now! :)

Kinda made me sick to think that two toyota's nearly finished 1 and 2?. Hell, I didn't even know they made a V8? Stewart and Bush had the fastest cars, all day long. I suppose the COT is gonna make it more fun now. Seems more forgiving?

No disrespect intended, but really?!? Toy-yoda had a V-8 pick up and SUV out on the market for about 5 years now. Nissan's had them too for about that long, but I don't believe they race in Nascar (not much of a race fan unless I'm the one doing the racing  ).

Toyota has had V8's in Lexus' for a long time.

...however the motor they are using in Nascar is almost a carbon copy of the Small Block Chevy's being used by Chevrolet racing. It is a 650HP 358 Cubic Inch Pushrod OHV motor using the same carb's that the other guys are running. It doesn't resemble ANYTHING they have ever produced, unlike Chevy, Ford and Mopar.

COT Chevy cars have moved away from Gen1 and Gen2 Small Block Chevy designs and are now running "Race Specific" engines that are not derived from something sold to the public. This marks the first time that Chevy Racing hasn't used a consumer available platform to build their NASCAR engines. Ford and Mopar did this years ago - Toyota has been doing it since day one. The RO7 engine shares a lot of technology with the LSX/Gen 3 and 4 small blocks, but is a totally different engine. That was the last thing that connected the cars on the track to some cars on the street. With COT, that is a thing of the past.

NASCAR talk on GMG? Works for me!

I'm a Kenseth guy, and for the second year in a row the #17 DeWalt Fusion was booted from top 5 contention by someone elses wreck. Last year, it was Kyle "I'll wreck anyone or anything including myself to win a race" Busch, this year it was Matt's teammate David Ragan.

Without stirring the pot too much, I'll say this: Junior better start producing some wins this season. In the equipment that he's got, he has no more excuses. We'll see!

He won 2 of the three events and finished 5th this weekend. That's a pretty amazing start in new equipment with a new team.

Kenseth is a good guy... Nice choice. Kyle Busch is a turdburgler.

Oh no doubt he's off to a good start. I work with a Little E die hard, and I just like to give him crap because he blamed the last two season entirely on supposedly shotty DEI equipment. Now that he's running the best...and if he's the driver he's described to be by many, he'll win 5-6 races this year.

I've always liked the 17 though...consistent and calculating. If he can avoid the wrecks of others, he's almost gauranteed a top 15 (if not a top 10) at any type of track under any conditions. Not to mention, I'm a Ford guy.

Yeah, really. I've got underwear older than that which I'm sure you didn't want to know about. And unless someone I know tears one down and rebuilds it I'd never know about it. I wouldn't own one if you gave it to me and I don't know anyone else who owns a V8 Lexus. I do know someone that has a V8 his truck, now that I've thought to ask him about it, that is. But he has nothing nice to say about it other than it's a tight ride on rough roads. He gets terrible mileage and wants to unload it. I guess I've just never had an interest in looking up what motors Toyota's have in them basically. Now that they are racing them on TV and people are talking about them I'll pay more attention.

I've never got into NASCAR, or any 4 wheel racing. Anyone here follow MotoGP?

I don't want to hear any "thats un-american racing" either, American's have had a lot of success in MotoGP, and there are several Americans in the series now:

Nicky Hayden (Kentucky, 2006 Champion)

Colin Edwards (Texas)

Kenny Roberts Jr (California)

John Hopkins (California)
