Beach Spot....

I know this is not football and I'm sorry!

I need help finding a good beachy spot for three teachers to go on spring break. We don't want to be with the college spring breakers but we want to be on the beach. We thought maybe Destin Flordia, does anyone know of a good hotel on the water there or does anyone else have any beach vacation sugguestions that would avoid the spring break crowd......we even thought about the Virgin Islands but I guess that is waaaay expensive....

Any help would be great, thanks!!

Cozumel with Adventure Tours great prices, warm weather, and usually out of the Spring Break crowd. Destin is nice but can be cold during spring break.

Take a look at Ambergris Caye, off the coast of Belize. It may be a little more pricey but I will bet you will love it, especially if you want to do any snorkling or SCUBA. Totally relaxing and nothing but one big beach!

I would suggest Playa del Carmen outside Cancun. It will probably be as cheap as Florida, guaranteed warm weather, the beaches are beautiful, and day trips to Xel-Ha and Tulum can make it more that just a 'beach-only' vacation. There's also the usual Mexican markets and the tourist restarants and bars.

There are some real nice, inexpensive spots in the Destin area. There is a Hilton out in Desitn that he its own private wharf..and its pretty nice...own private beach.

I would suggest Playa del Carmen outside Cancun. It will probably be as cheap as Florida, guaranteed warm weather, the beaches are beautiful, and day trips to Xel-Ha and Tulum can make it more that just a 'beach-only' vacation. There's also the usual Mexican markets and the tourist restarants and bars.

I second this idea. Cozumel is beautiful also, but the beaches in PDC are like talcum. Can't go wrong down there, and you'll have a much better time than Destin, IMO.

If they're going from March 8-11 then definently Mobile, AL on the Emerald Coast...beaches during the day and Sun Belt Conference Championship at night...what could be better?

I second this idea. Cozumel is beautiful also, but the beaches in PDC are like talcum. Can't go wrong down there, and you'll have a much better time than Destin, IMO.

I scuba dive and Cozumel has great diving (so I tend to favor it, I go there on average of once a year), either way is good in fact you can see Playa across the channel from Cozumel and vice versa just a short ferry ride apart.

right now there are flights to Cancun on worry free vacations website for $178 round trip...no gimmicks, no games, just cheap airfare. Get a hotel in playa del carmen. There are good beaches there and its cheap to go all-inclusive.

You can get package deals on worry free that include everything (taxi to/from airport) and all meals, drinks, etc.

You can fly to cancun cheaper than you can fly to any US beach, it's cheaper, quicker, and just plain better.

It is one of the best deals in the Miami-Ft Lauderdale-Boca Raton area, I've stayed there 4 times. It's an excellent well-kept place, good price, away from the crowds, and literally on the oceanfront. If you change your mind and want to go people-watching, Ft Lauderdale is only about 8 miles away or so. I also like to take a day and make a day trip down to Key West on A-1-A.

For a great Texas getaway, look at Port Aransas, near Corpus Christi. Nowhere near as crowded as South Padre, and the beach is just as good, if not better. And it's not dirty like Galveston.

I have been told that the post office is now the best place to get your passport, I was told that in some cases they have had less then a two week turn around. Wow,

Just be aware that Key West is ultra "Gay" if that kind of thing bothers you. If not maybe it is a plus.

It freaked me out last time I was there in the late 90s, very open and aggressive with each other gay men. Luckily for me we were staying in Tavernier, FL and only visited Key West for a day. I will never go back.
