I'm trying to plan my annual Mean Green road game trip. I can't decide to go to Kansas State or LSU.

Is there a schedule of non-conference games out yet ?

As of right now......those games are August 30 (at Kansas State) and September 13 (at LSU). We're at Rice on Sept. 27. But none of those are OFFICIAL yet, so I suppose they could change.

I would like to make a road trip also. I really don't have any desire to go to LSU. Kansas State would be cool, I have never been to Manhattan so I would worry about the boring factor (yes I live in Lubbock <_< ). Rice is likely to have the most favorable outcome. What to do??

For the Rice game, I'm hoping the Gulf Coast chapter of the Exes will be able to work with the Athletic dept in sponsoring tailgating or some other event. Regardless, maybe those of us in the Houston area can arrange something for the gmg.com members who make it to the game - what do y'all think?

I'm all set for the Rice game! It would be nice if there was a big turnout and some pre-game festivities...

Probably won't make the KSU or LSU games, but I am really tempted to try and make the ULM game... Just don't want to try and make the drive by myself.

My merry band of miscreants and our tailgate will definitely be making the trip.

something big would be nice. I think that would go a long way towards maybe being able to work out more games like this with Rice in the future, and perhaps UH. Show that our fans can travel... on occasion. Show Houston kids there actually is a pretty good-sized school just north of Dallas.

As the time nears, I'll be happy to help out however needed.

I plan on making it, my parents live in Houston now... so I can kill two birds with one road trip. A large tailgate party would be awsome.

K-State would be fun, opening game and 50,000 purple fans. Rice would be more winable but only about 15,000 fans there inside that 70,000 seat stadium.

Rice made major improvements to their stadium in 2006, so it's not quite that bad any more: http://riceowls.cstv.com/facilities/rice-stadium.html

"Fans can take in all these improvements while sitting on new aluminum bleachers which have seating for 47,000 fans. The end zone seating was removed and the area covered with blue tarps, but the capability remains to expand the seating to its original 70,000 configuration."

We're planning on making the trip to Rice (even though I can't stand the weather in Houston), and we're mulling over also going to LaMo.
