"He'd been offered by TCU, Northwestern and Rice, but he's going to play for coach (Todd) Dodge at North Texas. (Dodge) think he's getting the steal of Houston, and we do too. In the past, we sent kids to their quarterbacks and receivers camps. (Hill) went up there for two years, as a freshman and sophomore, and got to know Todd and developed a relationship with him. When they came down and recruited Royce and offered, he accepted. He likes the idea of building something new. He helped us build the team and program we have here."

-- Cy Ridge head coach Gary Thiebaud on Royce Hill

"He is a steal, a steal, a steal. When you look back on this class in four years, he'll be a guy that North Texas got over a lot of people. He was playing behind (current Baylor freshman) Chris Francis and other guys, and we were just really good at linebacker, so he didn't play as much and he would've been a bigger name. He's up to 210 and the kid can run -- he's a legit 4.5 he's just a kid that blossomed late. He'll go to regionals in state in pwoerlifting, and he has a chance to go to regiona in the triple jump. He's a freak."

-- Cedar Hill head coach Joey McGuire on Brandon Akpunku

"James is automatically going to make an impact on special teams. He can run down on kickoff and punt coverage, on kickoff returns. I think he'll end up as a safety or cornerback. He's one of the most physical players I've been around. His junor year, he led us in tackles on special teams. He's guy that doesn't really care about his body; he plays physically, and you could see that in him in the way he palyed quarterback for us. I think he's a guy that will make him better on special teams right away and work his way onto the defense."

-- Cedar Hill head coach Joey McGuire on James Hamilton

Man after reading those I'm really excited.

You sure like hearing these things from coaches who have been around these guys for the past 4 years! How about Royce Hill being the 6th best CB in the state of Texas! Akpunku is a player that wowed the NT coaches in Cedar Hill's spring practices, and sounds like is a physical specimen. Coach McGuire thinks Hamilton will play right away, and he is probably right. Cedar Hill has had around 20 kids sign Division 1 scholarships in the past 2 seasons alone, and several of those from last years class contributed early (Desmond Briscoe-Kansas, William Cole-OK State) so he probably has as good sense of the type of kid who plays early at this level.

Great job coaches! Give yourselves a pat on the back, and then let's start going after those '09s (Rex Burkhead and Kris Lott from Plano would be a nice start)!

I noticed that Burkhead already has us listed as a possibility.

Burkhead is a real phenom. He's neither big nor fast when compared to many. He's just a James Street. To paraphrase the quote about Street when he was the UT quarterback, "he can't run and he can't throw. All he can do is beat you."

My only question is...where do you play him?

Well, since you're talking about guys from that era, then you do what UT eventually did with "Super" Bill Bradley......put him at safety. I think that turned out well for him.
