(from the dallasnews.com blog):

Those of us who are 24 fans aren't getting our favorite show right now, but at least we have Lake Highlands defensive back John Shorter.

Let's see:

Tuesday morning Shorter tells his coach, Scott Smith, he's solid with North Texas.

Later Tuesday afternoon, Rivals reports Shorter has switched to Tulsa. When a reporter calls Smith to ask him about it, he is stunned. He makes a phone call, calls the reporter back, and says unhappily, "Yes, he's switched to Tulsa."

Now go to Wednesday morning. Shorter walks into Smith's office and asks for his North Texas letter of intent. He takes both the North Texas and Tulsa letters down to the school's signing ceremony. He signs the letter to North Texas.

And thus, John Shorter is going to North Texas.

Still some holes to fill in there:

Where did Rivals get their information that caused them to report Shorter had switched to Tulsa?

Assuming Shorter actually did switch to Tulsa, when? He was "solid with North Texas" Tuesday morning, then reported and confirmed as a Tulsa commit that same afternoon.

What persuaded him to switch to Tulsa?

What persuaded him to switch back? Sounds like gut feeling and instinct prompted him to choose North Texas in the end, but some of the stuff in the middle doesn't quite make sense.

I guess in the end it doesn't matter. He made the right choice, and I'm looking forward to watching him play for the Mean Green.

Rivals' source was InsideTulsaSports.com. Per the article, Shorter stated it was a better overall fit, both academically and athletically. I am glad to have him sign with us. During Dodge's press conference he commented they tried to recruit him last year as part of Dodge's first class then realized he was only a junior. Dodge said he liked him when SLC played against him.
