As much as it will pain me to see Shaq in Phoenix and not with Dallas....Miami is getting a much better deal with Phoenix. Getting Shawn Marion would be great with Wade and with a high lottery pick coming. The only thing is that what does it do for Phoenix? Marion is a huge part with how they run things so I am thinking their offense would get affected. Its certainly and interesting scenario. If the Mavs cant land Shaq then afcourse I am open to Jason Kidd scenarios but how about trying to make a deal for Ron Artest? He is a dominant defender and a solid 2-guard which the Mavs desperately need? He is a nut no doubt but you put him in a Mavs uniform with something to play for and I bet he will be perfectly fine. Just my thoughts as of this morning sitting in my cube.

No to Kidd and definitely no to Artest.

I am definitely on board with you on the Kidd thing, especially if it means getting rid of Harris. I would just entertain it simply because he is Jason Kidd and he is an exceptional talent even at 35. Whey wouldnt you want Artest? He would be such an excellent fit for this team and would solidify the 2-guard position. Hes a hell of a defender and can take the ball to the basket which the Mavs need. I dont think you would have to give up much to get Artest.

Because he is a crazy MoFo and a team cancer.

So was Nick Van Exel, Rasheed Wallace, Terrell Owens, Randy Moss and the list can go on and on and on. Its worth the risk and I bet Artest would be on his best behavior. He's just a great talent that BENEFITS the Mavs in my opinion.

Not going to happen with the Mavs - Management has already said "they are happy with their team." Meanwhile, the rest of the NBA goes on in trying to make their teams better. It's somewhat understandable though when you think about it - everyone is chasing the Mavs and their titles.

Despite what is said - the Mavs have been very active, even after the denials.

The problem is when Phoenix gives Marion for Shaq, the only match is giving up Howard.

The window is closing on Phoenix, San Antonio has their usual issues but doubt them at your own risk and Portland, New Orleans, Lakers, and Utah are the future. The Mavs might be best serve by waiting out this year and looking at a summer where Gilbert Arenas, Elton Brand and other guys are back in play.

Naw, the Mav's should mortgage the future by giving up Howard for an over-the-hill center or point guard.
