Breaking news -- Willingham out for the year

UNT head coach Johnny Jones confirmed what many have feared since the Mean Green's win over South Alabama last week. Senior guard Dez Willingham is out for the year. Jones said Willingham has a torn ACL in his left knee.

The SMU transfer suffered the injury when he was bumped while driving to the basket against USA. Willingham's knee buckled and he was helped off the floor.

The 6-0 guard averaged 8.8 points a game in his only season with the Mean Green was coming on of late, scoring in double figures in three straight games.

Even though he's only played for us for half a season, I've appreciated all he added to the squad. What a crappy break for him.

He wasn't bumped, he was pile driven with not even a foul called.

Very unfortunate, Dez was really comming on and this is a lousy way to end his last college year. The only positive is that it will allow the other guards more playing time. I think Thompson deserves more minutes and McCoy may be begining to get his "A" game together.
