There is a significant grass fire close to University Drive and Interstate 35. Northbound Interstate 35 is closed just north of the I-35 E/W split; southbound I35 is closed at Highway 380.

Denton Municipal Electric is experiencing significant problems caused by the wind; the UNT Research Park, Library Annex, and Eagle Point have all experienced intermittent outages.

A grass fire just west of Denton has caused heavy smoke around the University of North Texas forcing the closure of a portion of Interstate 35 and part of U.S. Highway 380. The fire had not threatened any buildings, so far, fire officials said shortly after noon. Fire departments in Sanger, Pilot Point, Little Elm, and Corinth are fighting grass fires near those cities.

High winds also were causing scattered power outages throughout Denton on Tuesday afternoon, but it was not immediately clear how many homes and businesses were affected. Denton Municipal Electric issued a statement on its Web site saying all available crews were working to restore electricity as soon as possible. Online: www.dmepower.com.

Now's our chance! Fan those flames towards Fouts Field. Concrete will eventually collapse if it gets hot long enough, and those aluminum seats will be history too. :shifty:

FirefightnRick can you weigh in on this.

Why mess with all that we have? I say invest in the future and fan those babies over towards Denia.

Somebody run up there and throw some gas on the stadium.

I guess there might just be a high enough fuel load in the bathrooms to sustain enough fire/heat to weaken the tensile strength of the concrete to get some spalling and collapse. Just need enough in the right places... :)

Although it might be more likely the gases in the bathroom will cause an explosion and blow out a good chunk of the stadium.

Ignition of gases from the Fouts restrooms, with subsequent chain explosions would cause major damage to the entire Greater Denton region.

Did Fouts burn down yet??

Can someone please park a tanker full of diesel under the grand stands?
