Ok, someone posted (when this kid committed) that he would bring immediate help to the team and be a starter for 2008. Everyone seemed to agree - but one poster said that he would have to sit out 2008 before playing in 2009. I don't think that is the case... He has used up his freshman redshirt in 2005 (Auburn), played in 2006 (for Auburn) - didn't like it there or had problems (can't tell by the page) and transferred down to a JUCO. Then he committed orally to play for Miss but when their coach was fired he decided to look elsewhere... at that time he narrowed it down to NT and Kansas State. He went to Kansas State last weekend along with 16 other recruits and either gave the impression that he would oral or Rivals just assumed that he would pick KSU over NT. Then he picks NT... which is just awesome in my book. But I am wondering a couple of things - how many years can he play and will he have to sit out a year. I don't think so... he did what most other players are too proud to do, he went down to the JUCO ranks for a year making his eligible for the next year if offered a scholrahip at a IA school. I think that he has 2 years of eligibilty left because he is coming from the JUCO and I think that he should be able to play THIS year...

The rules is that you have 5 years to play 4....

Horton's timeline:

2005, Redshirt Freshman - rode the pine his RS his Frosh year at Auburn.

2006, Auburn - played sparingly

2007 - played one year for NW Miss Comm College

2008 - Signs with NT - should be able to play in Fall of 2008 and 2009

Is this right? He won't have to sit out will he? If so, why? Isn't his year at JUNO the same thing as sitting out a year at a IA school? Here is the limited info that I could find for him -

Stebo, I THINK the key to it is his graduation from the Junior College this Spring. If he graduates, I THINK he becomes eligible at North Texas for the 2008 season and would have two years to play for us. There may be some special situation regarding him that I am not aware of, but that is what I think based on what little I know of the situation.
