Listening to Craig Way on the radio today (1300 the Zone, Austin, TX) he interviewed John Jenkins, head coach of "Team Texas". It's one of the teams in a new football league. I don't know much about it. I think it may be some kind of developmental league. I'm pretty sure he said Don McGee was going to play for them. I was only half way paying attention, but my ears perked up when I heard, "Don McGee from North Texas". I found nothing on their official web site but I'm sure my ears did not decieve me.

Then again the voices in my head told me...oops wrong board.

GO DON !!!!!!!!!

Yes, it's true. Don called me last week to tell me he was protected by Dallas from the upcoming draft. As a side note, Johnny Quinn was also protected before he signed with Green Bay.

The All-American League is a new professional league.

It is not a development league, rather a new "professional" league for college players who weren't picked up by the NFL.

What do you mean by "protected by Dallas from the upcoming draft?"

When I first read the thread, I was thinking of the All American Football Conference. That's where the Browns, 49ers and Colts came from. But, these guys are just recycling the name. They are here on the web. Looking at the "Texas" team I'm a bit insulted at their promotion, "Be a part of the crowd for the National TV broadcast of the draft as we select players from UT, A&M, Houston, Rice, Texas Tech and all of the other colleges in Texas and around the country!" They appear to want our players but not want to mention our name!

It appears it is legit..

Also, note this tidbit:

"John Quinn singed with an NFL team so he is no longer on the list. Congrats to John."

I didn't know he could sing as well.. interesting.

I wish Booger would get into this league. I hear he is back in Terrell doing "work." I asked, "like what?" This person who knows/knew him said, "well, there are no 'good' jobs in Terrell."

That could be huge for our players it will give guys another place to display their skills past college and hopefully get noticed by NFL scouts. I hope the league makes it the NFL need a developmental league and this could serve as that. The have financial backing hopefully they can pull it off.

Their draft is today ( Sat. ) at 11:00 AM on your local computer at AAFL.com. Players must be college graduates not just former players.
