Man, I hope he's right. PLEASE...

Mendoza may be able to pick it up quick with some help. Hopefully whoever we bring in can help teach the relative Green (no pun) staff a thing or two and at some point Mendoza MAY be a viable option for DC. ...but now isn't the time.

NT needs to build QUICKLY and get some real success. We need to be in the hunt THIS YEAR - improvement on defense and continued improvement on offense will get us there. OCC is going to be tough this year, but there is no reason with a decent Defensive scheme we shouldn't be in the thick of things in 2008.

I am curious, when Dickey demoted/promoted Kenny Evans, he took him out of the position of DC and made him concentrate on a position BUT also promoted him to Assistant Head Coach... is Ronnie boy gonna get the same BS reassignment? I guess that it would be ok as long as it was in name only - but this guys has ZERO respect from his players. The stories that I have heard are pathetic. I really think that a high school coach could do better .... wait, strike that... I mean a COLLEGE coach could do better ;)

I know it's already after Christmas. But here we are, a bunch of Mean Green "Ralphies", praying and scheming about how we can get that Red Ryder BB gun (aka Gary Deloach). B)

I'm a DeLoach fan as much as the next guy but are there not any other candidates that might be even better than DeLoach which we should consider? Bennett? Anyone?

The thing about DeLoach is that he knows North Texas, and the North Texas area, and he was successful while he was here. I wouldn't see a down side to this.

Not saying there is or would be a downside to DeLoach coming back. Just wondering if there is anyone better that is available.

While we're on the discussion of defense does anyone think we may ultimately move to a 3-3-5? Seems like speed might be a little easier for us to recruit than dominate D linemen. Not to mention the fits Tulsa's D gave us.

Id rather us not play in a 3-3-5 if we can't recruit dominant linemen. If this is the case, we would never get a pass rush and we could basically give up 3-8 yds on any run consistently. I'd rather we get better at tackling in general before switching to a wide open defense. At least with 4 guys on the line we can hope they trip over the guys already clogging the holes and laying on the ground.
