Another Weird Fb Rule Question

Sorry, don't remember what year it was, or even who we were playing. The PAT was tipped, and somehow ended up in the endzone. Because of a series of events, though we blocked it and had possession, they got a point. I think I was drinking that day

Anyway, the whole scenario was really confusing and supposedly it was some very obscure rule about who touches it when, how it's downed, etc., I don't know. Does anybody else remember this, or at least know about the rule to which I'm referring?

That doesn't sound familiar at all.

I think the ball HAS to go through the posts to get the XP. If we blocked it and they were still awarded points, the only thing I can think of is somehow they recovered it and made it to the endzone for the 2 pt conversion.

If we recover it, the best we can do is run it back for a safety? not sure...

No, it was none of the above, and really obscure, and it had its own term. I just don't remember the term. It was like "when X, Y, and Z all happen, then they get a point". I think the ball may have even changed possession once or twice during the play--but again, pretty sure I was fairly well buzzed by then so I just remember everybody being really confused.

I wouldn't have even thought of it except my wife was asking questions about blocked kicks and possession and stuff and it popped into my head.

Ah, the Famous 1-point Safety. Thought that only happened to Aggy. I don't remember that ever happening to us.
