Kody Spano has been committed since last February and was the very first committ of the 08 class. He was 2 school days from graduating High School (set to enroll at stillwater in Jan.) and was told by Gundy that they no longer had room for him in January and that he would have to walk on this spring. They gave his spot to Markell Martin a safety they just got committed. Pretty crappy!!

Division 1 football, baby. Gundy is an ass. This kid will rebound. He has an offer from Ole Miss and TCU. He'll get a deal done from someone.

Who knows maybe TD offers him. Riley and Spano could battle in the fall and Spano could enroll now and learn the system.

Its obvious that Meager and Vizza will not lay down.

That would be interesting to see if a QB would come in the same recruiting class with the son of the HC.

For example, what if Meager graduated in December or if Phillips graduated, would a top notch QB like Kody Spano (or whoever) come in the same class as Riley?

What about the following season? When and if Riley starts next season, will a top notch kid come to UNT? That is the tough thing about fathers and sons on the same team.

I know the rebuttal that "TD is a man of quality, character, and so forth." But do other QB's and their families want to take that chance?

The QB cupboard will thin out the earlier Rodge starts. We'll have some Jevan Sneed type activity at UNT. By the way Sneed (ironically from Stephenville) will make Ole Miss a very competitive team this next season.

We should not waste another ship on a quarterback when we already have Vizza and Riley. We are already carrying enough dead weight at that position. Hopefully, some of our back-up quarterbacks will find a better home somewhere else and free up some scholarships for some d-linemen (if we can convince any to sign with us).

I don't know that Riley's being the son of the HC will scare away as many QB recruits as the simple fact of his being a top-flight recruit. State champion, proven leader, feet like lightning . . .

Okie Light also signed 5 nationally ranked JUCO's, which

included Jeremy Phillips, OL guy Coach Dodge wanted,

plus giant DT Swanson Miller who I hoped NT tried to

recruit. Gundy had to make room for these JUCO players.

Maybe Okie light will turn away some other players, as

well as TX, Tx A & M, OU, and all the other big boys that

promise everything then shaft the kid.

Some late opportunties for top recruits could pop

up for North Texas!

Uh, Jeremy Phillips is a high school verbal from Waller, TX that played QB in HS, but will be a safety/LB at NT.
