Umm, yeah especially when you get news of the kind in this article.

Get us OUT of the Belt!

ok..... Which conference is wanting us... Being in no conference is much bigger problem.

"Is this the best we (as a conference) can do? "

duh ... it's a sorry conference ... barely worthy of any bowls bids at all in any year

I would love to see us in CUSA because it is a more regional conference for NT, but don't forget that the Belt had a winning record again this year against CUSA.

Part of the low attendance may be the City of New Orleans' fault.

I've been to 4 new Orleans Bowls (you guess which 4 ). Each time, when I got to the airport, or the hotel, or went out to eat, and locals asked why we were there, we would reply "the New Orleans Bowl." "You mean the Sugar Bowl ?" "No the New Orleans Bowl." "Never heard of it" frequently was the reply.

And when you look at things to do in the Big Easy during the Christmas holidays, the New Orleans Bowl is rarely mentioned.

I agree, the schools playing should carry the majority of the load, but something needs to be done to increase visibility to New Orleans locals.

Just curious, I noticed in the DMN that the payout for the NO Bowl was around $325,000 and the next lowest paying bowl was $750,000. Is the title sponsor so poverty stricken that our bowl pays HALF that of the next lowest. Good God, the WAC and CUSA's bowl tie ins pay better. Is this the best we (as a conference) can do?

Didn't someone post a few weeks back that bowl payouts from most bowls ala the $750,000 variety have a certain kickback to them? Meaning your team goes to Bowl X and you get $750,000 however your school must refund $250,000 - $300,000 back to the bowl organizers. The NOB is just the opposite. They say: "Hey we pay $325,000 per team and you keep all of it."

Please show me these wonderful facilities they are building. They can't draw flies to their games, so who's funding these projects.

Let's see, we've got a new AC and practice facility and a stadium on the way. What else do you want, Grinch?

It's clear you have never been to the Florida Gold Coast--FAU & FIU will be the next USF and UCF before we even remotely ponder a new stadium.

Show me that wonderful football facility we are building--oh, only some blueprint to impress recruits? We're closer to 1-AA and renting C. H. Collins from DISD than having a new stadium. Talk it up and lie all you want as construction costs rise 10% each year. We need to get off our high horse. Most of the SBC has long since passed us by, facilities and competition as well. Not just a coincidence that these schools aren't timid about upping student fees. What big win against even a mid major have we had in the last 20 years (other than TT)? We even have to go back to '88 to a close loss to UT to have a discussion. And No we won't be visiting Lubbock's Jones Stadium anymore since we refuse to play TT in Dallas.

FAU and FIU can't draw flies. Let them build their little stadiums and then die on the vine when nobody attends.

You are a Grade A idiot if you think we a closer to 1AA and renting CH Collins. I would challenge you to show me a nicer AC in the SBC. Fouts isn't the greatest, but it isn't at the bottom of the SBC either and it will be replaced soon enough. Big wins against a mid major? I would classify the win against Cincy in the New Orleans Bowl and maybe even the Baylor win. Sure, Baylor was down, but anytime we can beat a Big XII school, I'll take it.

I agree that we shouldn't play in Dallas. We are located in Denton and screw Tech if they are afraid to come to Denton. They played at SMU and it seats about 1,500 more than Fouts. They'll come to Denton in a couple of years when the new stadium is being built, and you'll be eating crow.

Why even come on here and bitch and moan about what is supposedly your alma mater. It doesn't do anyone any good. Does it make you feel good? If you've given up then be on your way.

If I were you, and I had become so jaded about UNT as you have become, I would probably stop following the team. I mean, really, what good does it do for you to point out that you aren't happy about getting a new stadium anytime soon? Guess what? EVERYONE HERE FEELS THE SAME WAY!! We all get that you hate the results from last season--and most of the seasons from the last 30 years--guess what? EVERYONE FEELS THE SAME WAY!!! We get that you hate the SBC--again, bingo, WE ALL WANT OUT TOO!! At least answer the question of why you have become so bitter about UNT? If it is for any of the reasons just mentioned, you aren't alone--talk to someone about it. If it something else, state it to us all. Otherwise, for your own peace of mind, find another team to follow. We aren't on the same level as SFA or Texas State. If you think we should be on the same level as UT, Tech, or even TCU, then go pick up the tab on the other $20-50 million or so that we need to become competitive with those programs. All I know is that the AC and the stadium plans have been in the works for many years--trust me, no one is lying to you about any of it.

Beating.
