I've been told by a few from Lake Dallas that last years QB CHASE BAINE from a very strong playoff team wants to come play football for the MEAN GREEN. He was offered "ships" from Navy and Air Force last year but did not want the 5 year tour of duty after. He is a two sport guy who signed to play baseball for Sam Houston State. The coaches from LD say he misses football and wants to play receiver or D-back. Hope TD looks at him. Maybe a walk-on tryout and let him earn a "SHIP".

I was told he went to the Western Kentucky game and stayed the whole game. Made his mind up then he wanted play football again and play for the MEAN GREEN!!!!! I think that says alot.

Heck, after sitting through that entire game, I deserved a ship.

Anybody who's a good player and sat through that game deserves a look.

Forget more QB's and Rb's; we need defensive and offensive linemen in the worse way. Dodge needs to come down to SE Texas and recruit some "big uglies". We grow 'em down here as tall as old oak trees. And just as tough.

I'm with you DeepGreen! Unless the kid is 6-4, 280 and can rush the passer, I'd pass!

Graduated from high school with his dad. He is a great player. His dad was our quarterback in high school, went to tech to play quarterback, then finished his degree at UNT. His grandparents probably havent missed a nt home football game in 30 years.

I found some stuff on the DMN website.

All Dist receiver soph year

All Dist QB jr year 694 yrds rushing 1471 yrs passing

Offensive MVP 9-4a Sr. year 1331 rushing 1688 passing

38 TD for both years

5184 total yards

HE COULD BE OUR NEXT "FITZ" A WALK ON THAT EARNS HIS WAY.

I wish him luck!!!

bring em on - really surprised he didnt play football in the first place. never realized his stats were that good - rarely see a QB reached those type of running stats unless they never throw the ball. the more athletes the better - Dodge will find a place for him to contribute

My question is will he be eligible to play in the fall of 2008.

Yes, if he was not on scholarship to play football at his previous school. Just like Latif Nurudeen, who was a WALK-ON last year at Baylor. He was eligible this season because he was not on a football scholarship.
