I lived in the B'ham area for 7 years. The UAB Medical Center for Sports Medicine

is world known. Many the pro and college athletes will go here for sports injuries.

This facility is a first class operation, with the top sports surgens and doctors,

rehabilitation specialists, and newest technology/equipment available.

what is the actual injury?

Was originally reported as a separated shoulder. Thought to be borderline between rehab vs surgery. Second opinion may have "push" surgery or they may have just thought they should be safe.

thanks... shoulder surgeries are a pain, but depending on what it is, he can probably fully recover with rehab. I had surgery to repair a torn labrum (SLAP tear) back in September, and I'm almost 100% just have to regain the rest of my range of motion.

Anyways, Im also not a QB or in stellar shape, so I'm sure he'll be fine. ha

I wonder how he will recover from this. I hear sometimes about how people come back from an injury like this better than they were before. Possibly due to all the rehab/conditioning involved. Anyone know anything about this type of injury?

Here's a great article on Dr. James Andrews and his surgery on top professional athletes, including Drew Brees (prior to his first season with the NO Saints), Roger Clemens (95% of his 354 career wins came after surgery), Troy Aikman (shoulder and elbow), Donovan McNabb (knee), Matt Hasselbeck (shoulder) and Chad Pennington (shoulder).

Riley went to the best. I wonder how long his recovery period is and whether or not he'll attend unt in the spring? Best of luck to him. Many were and are anticipating the showdown between Meager, Vizza and Riley. It now has been delayed some (the competitive challenge).
