I am not an Atlanta Falcons fan, but I find it unacceptable for Petrino to resign after 13 games. Give the team, its fans, and your boss the decency to wait until after the season. Yes, I know he did not ask for the Michael Vick drama, but Vick's absence from the team is old news. I'm sure Arthur Blank must be extremely embarrassed because he gave Petrino nothing but the highest of praise last night on Monday Night Football. Clearly, he was not expecting his resignation.

Petrino's resignation also brings up the issue of college coaches making the transition to the NFL. I simply think in most cases, the transition will fail. I cannot explain exactly why, but it clearly did not work for Spurrier, Saban, and now Petrino. I hope Lane Kiffin proves me wrong.
