I want a sold kelly green hat with "NT" on the front...anyone?

NT91, I tend to agree with you but...to twist this thread a little, I think you are about to feel the squeeze (maybe you consider it that or mabe you don't) of phasing out NT and going strictly with UNT. The description told to me was, "everybody knows UCLA, USC etc. they will know UNT". What are your thoughts about using UNT instead of NT?? Do you think that will be accepted by new and old alumni alike??

Those are both ugly. My favorite hat of all time was one I bought while in school in the late 80's. It was black with a green interlocked NT. I prefer solid color hats with a constasting logo or university initials.

I think it's ugly.

But to answer GREENEXES question, the only thing that has been consistant has been the term, North Texas. We've been North Texas Normal College, North Texas State and finally the University of North Texas.

I "correct" my wife constantly that we are simply, "NT" and not "UNT."

I'd like to change the line in the fight song from, "U-N-T-EAGLES" (fight, fight, fight) to "NORTH TEXAS MEAN GREEN" (fight, fight, fight).

GO MEAN GREEN

So true. There is no reason to push UNT. Everyone in Texas, and the rest of the nation for that matter, knows who you're talking about when you say that you're a "North Texas" graduate. There is no other D-1 school with "North Texas" in their name. I've talked to graduates of North Texas from several generations, including my mother's best friend who graduated in the 20's, and they all use the same name.........NORTH TEXAS.

PUSHING UNT SOUNDS LIKE ANOTHER BRAIN-FART IDEA BEING PUSHED BY NON-NORTH TEXAS GRADUATES HIRED BY OUR SCHOOL.

Oh, for the days of having creative and loyal graduates of North Texas making promotional decisions, and coming up with great ideas for our school.

Sydney Graham------Mean Green nickname

Rick Spears-------The stylized Eagle (aka the flying worm)

Jim Hobdy-----the North Texas battle flag.

Rick McKinney---- creating a spirit chant that everyone can understand and participate in.

By supplying other shades of green what is the purpose? I agree that everything should be the kelly green color. Are they just attempting to appease different groups of people?

There's a really cool knit at the Lids in Denton that I picked up over Thanksgiving. It's got just the SOW on one side, and "MEAN GREEN" on the other. It's dark green with a white outlined black band running around the bottom.
