Evidently I ruffled some feelings when I made the statement in a post that Meager was a red shirted freshman in 2005 instead of a true freshman as Vizza was this year and compared the pics of each in their first year of playing for NT..(which I compared because of the prior postings mentioning the # of pics Vizza had this year).

In all fairness I would like to include the following information which has been pointed out to me:

He had surgery in the spring and had to start playing after 3 months rehab. He should have taken a medical red shirt but was asked by the coaches to play.

He completed 63.3 % of his passes this year ..................vs 58.2 % by Vizza.

He was the "starting" QB this year....but lost out to Vizza....which may have been because he was a Sr. and would not be back vs Vizza being a freshmen was the future having 4 years to play and getting the experience.

I did mention that Meager has handled the situation this year like a man.

I hope Meager will transfer somewhere he can start. I think he's a good QB, not great, but better than to be sitting for a whole season and a half.

I hope he stays with his friends at UNT. Gets his education and has a happy life after graduation.

I think one more year of football starting and delaying his life one more year isn't worth it in the grand scheme. Just my humble opinion.

I had posted earlier that I hoped he was close enough to getting his degree that he could graduate this Spring (or Summer) and go on about his life. Standing around holding a clipboard for one more year would not excite me at all. Does anyone know how close he is to graduating?

Meager had a very good year. while I didn't have a problem with elevating Vizza, I don't think the record would have been any difference with Meager starting the entire season. Vizza was the underclassman, and thus had the edge because of potential benefit to the program; but I don't think that Vizza outplayed Meager this year.

I would hate to lose Meager, despite his many IMO unfair critics' view, has always played hard and handled himself well. I hope he is here next year and provides very good insurance if there is an injury to Vizza. I hope Dodge is redshirted.

So all of you that want Meager to leave let me ask you a question?

What happens if Vizza gets hurt next year?

R. Dodge - never had a college snap - not to mention you would have to burn his redshirt more than likely

N. Tune - As far as I know he's never had a college snap either (if he has it's only a handful and was in mop-up duty - OU maybe?)

M. Phillips - Not to bad, does have experience, but there was a reason he was fourth string this year

God help us if Meager leaves and Vizza has to leave the game for some reason.
