Gotta love this matchup on December 23 at the Hawaii Bowl. East Carolina University vs Boise State. I wonder how many ECU fans will make this trip?

If you are an East Carolina fan, here's what you are looking at:

- 9720 miles RT from Greenville, NC

- Flying Continental, I'm guestimating 10-1/2 hours of air time, not including the stop in Houston

- Cost: Lowest fair listed is $1,667.64 RT

- Not sure what a hotel costs in Honolulu these days, but I suspect for a nice place to crash you're looking at $200+ per night

- And then there's food. Food in Hawaii is not cheap! Unless you get a Big Mac for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!

Who makes up these bowl pairings?

Being the only ECU fan at the game (that can afford those prices)... priceless!

that is a damn shame for their fans! sure, the hawaii bowl would be a great trip, but i can't imagine many going. sort of like if north texas was ever invited!

I would be there with NO thought.

Here is how the conversation would be: "Honey, you know those xmas gifts you were going to buy me? How about we parlay those into a birthday and xmas gift? Buy us airline tickets to the Hawaii bowl."

If that didn't fly, then I would just by the tickets as a romantic getaway + football game.

They should let the two worst teams in the country play in the Hawaii bowl - that way, we could get our revenge on FIU early! :D It would be like a reward to the fans of the schools that had to put up with really bad football all year.

Plus, wouldn't it be fun for a change to hear people argue about who was worst instead of who was best? I think so.

Of course, on the other extreme...maybe they should hold a bowl game in Alaska for the two worst teams...now that would be worth watching! FIU, a team from Miami, and us from Texas watching our teams collide in the snow.... Gold.

There is such a bowl already. It's called the Humanitarian Bowl, played in Boise, Idaho. I prefer to call it the InHumane Bowl.

The Hawaii Bowl is the penalty bowl in CUSA. Usually reserved for the team that finished last of the bowl-abled CUSA teams and got left out of the choice bowls and costs it's fans mucho $$. I could think of worse spots to be sent for a penalty.
