fry and brasher were childhood friends.

fry took brasher and snyder to iowa and now k-state's football stadium is, bill synder family stadium.

Yes, they were childhood friends in Eastland, but Hayden's family moved from Eastland (to Odessa) when he was 8 years old. Unless they corresponded a lot afterward, their early childhood had little to do with Frys decision to retain Brashier. Bill Brashier had already established his reputation as a good DC. And to his credit, Hayden Fry's ego didn't allow him to overlook Coach Brashier's ability simply because Coach Brashier had never been Coach Fry's DC.

And according to this story, it was Bill Brashier who made the suggestion for Fry's staff to go to Iowa.

By contrast, Coach Dodge thought that a coach with 27 total years of high school experience was a better selection than a DC with decades of experience......and who had a good reputation as a defensive coach.

I am fairly certain that the fans of La Tech are glad that TD didn't want some of DD's defensive coaches for his staff, because all they did is drastically improve their defense from last year to this year with Russell (should have never let him go).

Eric Russell is La Tech's Tight Ends and Special Teams coach. Kenny Evans is their Linebacker coach. To TD's credit in regards to our previous staff members I'm in the belief that he wasn't allowed to hire any of DD's ex members, although we did bring back Lefty, who did a solid job helping our QB's buy time to get the ball down field. Ex DC Fred Bleil was rumored to have been ready to hang up his 28 year college coaching experience after last season but is currently Tulane's LB coach.

Rick you are right, I should have phrased it differently. Those two coaches helped bring back their defense to where it is now. I really didn't mean for it to read that Russell was in charge of the D there. I do think we should have kept Russell and Kenny on the staff if it had been possible. I don't know why TD would not have been allowed to keep some of the former staff - if so that is a bad move on the part of our AD. If this was the case, then I am sure since Lefty had been gone for a while, that was the reason he was able to come back.
