Unselfish Players On This Year's Team

When Danny Meager set our school record for passing yards in a game (against SMU)...he was quoted as saying that the record didn't mean that much, since we lost the game.

Casey Fitzgerald said similar things, in the paper, when he set two single season receiving records (catches and yards)...in the game against ASU.

Also, Giovanni Vizza when he set the NCAA record (or tied it) for most TD passes by a freshman...in the Navy game.....Gio was quoted as saying that it would have meant a lot more, had we won the game.

Just the other day, senior Jeremiah Chapman (after the WKU win) was quoted as saying, that he hopes we win our final two games, so that the younger guys take this momentum with them into spring ball.

And today, Eddrick Gilmore says "I just want to go out there and play with whoever is out there. I want to be a guy that players like Craig (Robertson) and A.J. (Penson) can look up to because I have been here three years."

Things like these quotes make me know even more that our future is bright. We've got some great kids....and they all believe in one another.

I hate to see this season end.

A much needed post, and a great one. This has been a bad season, but the players have never quit, and they need to be applauded for that. One thing that is standing out to me is the attitude that Dodge has installed in this team. It's great. There seems to be a feeling amongst the players that this will get turned around, and having that attitude goes a long ways. Thanks you players and coaches.

While you can certainly find some standouts - I've gotta say I think "Unselfish" is what you would call all the guys who take the field this weekend against FIU. These guys have been through much, and with nothing other than each other to play for, won last week, and I believe this week. This team has been through a massive coaching change, strife from the fanbase for the past 3 years, charges of racisim by former teammates, and a whole list of crap that most of us don't have a clue about...

...these guys deserve nothing but a badge of honor from UNT, the Alumni, the Students and from anyone who UNT means anything to.

I have a great deal of respect for this group of young men. UNSELFISH, CLASSY YOUNG MEN describe them perfectly. All of them.

Excellent post. There is no quit in this team. I'm proud they are our kids. I don't care what their record is. I'm proud they play for the same university I went to.

And the football banquet should be standing room only in appreciation for what our team went through this year. In my mind they are certainly all winners.
