I know many will disagree with me on this, so I'm putting on my flame-retardant football pants...

I would like to see some real rivalries formed between UNT and other schools, but every time we try it seems we get a lot of:

"Gotta give a lot of respect to Team X" or...

"Team Y is a great team, it should be a good game" or...

"Let's show some class and not trash talk Team Z"

Ohio State and Michigan didn't become a great rivalry by their fans being respectful and classy. The same for Texas-OU, Florida-Florida State... or even Harvard-Yale!

A good rivalry must have a certain element of disdain, hatred, and I daresay, disrespect!

Then we have those who, for some strange reason, don't want a rivalry with SMU. I don't get it...

I can't wait to see what will evolve once wKYu becomes a full Belt member.

Yes, but you do have to "make it personal" by lowering youself to base standards. Let's heat up the competition, but keep it civil...much like the intense rivalry between Army and Navy. They "go to the mat" with the rivalry, but after the game they traet each other with respect. You do not have to throw respect out the window to have a good rivalry. Class boys and girls...a little class, please! And, thank you!

When we get to play some universities that we really "care" about beating...then the rivalries will really heat up...bring on SMU, TCU, Rice, Baylor, Tulsa, Tulane, UT El Paso, Navy, Army, Air Force...etc., etc. Who can get really fired up about Fla. Int'l, Fla Atlantic, Middle Tenn, etc., etc.? Beat the "you know what out of them for certain, but get too fired up about a real rivalry with them...not so much. Hey, that's just my two cents...
