Insanely Cocky Wku Team

I understand it was the last game of their season and all. But their team was over the top on trash talking and post whistle activities.

I love a good ole grenade celebration as much as the next person, but to have almost all the team run on the field, then to the endzone and participate... well, that was insane.

Plus, their team was 7-4 coming into the game, but look at their competition:

September 1 at No. 6 Florida L 49-3 0-1

September 8 West Virginia Tech W 87-0 1-1

September 15 Eastern Kentucky W 26-6 2-1

September 20 at Middle Tennessee W 20-17 3-1

September 29 at Bowling Green L 41-21 3-2

October 13 at Ball State L 35-12 3-3

October 20 at Indiana State W 56-7 4-3

October 27 North Carolina Central W 50-14 5-3

November 3 at Chattanooga W 28-21 6-3

November 10 Troy L 21-17 6-4

November 17 Morehead State W 52-12 7-4

November 24 at North Texas L 27-26 7-5

They had only beat ONE Div 1A team all year. Going 1-5 against Div 1A is hardly something to brag about for a "provisional Div 1A" team.

It is a good record overall, but they certainly aren't at the top of the SBC (like their fans are claiming). You know the logic, they played Troy closer then anyone else in the Sunbelt and they beat MTSU. But now they lost to a bottom dweller in North Texas and maybe that realigns their attitude?

If their fans are anything like their team... oy... we may have a new team to dislike.

They played in a very un-disciplined way, but they did have that swagger. The one Booger used infect the team with; the one that says they are about to line up across from you and whip your ass.

At first their actions pissed me off , but after a night of sleep here are my thoughts. It was there last game of the season , they were on the road , they had nothing to lose. They honestly probably didn't even care if they won the game or not. They probably planned that all year long if they had not already done it ( the gernade). These are just a group of kids who are not even 22 years of age yet who probably feel like they have to play with a chip on their shoulder when they faced DI opponents this year. I'm sure this taught them a lesson and it will not be a problem again ( if it's a close game) If I were a senior and playing in my last game of my career and some of my other teammates came up with this idea for the game , I'd be all about it.

They played with swagger and there is nothing wrong with that.If you don't play with confidence that you will win , then there is no reason to play the game. They went a bit overboard by trying to show - up UNT and it cost them the game. I'm sure their coaching staff wasn't happy and let them know about it in the lockeroom.

The way that WKU presented themselves on the field was lacking in class...BIG TIME. I think we just found a transfer school Green and Chatman.

Even when you are on the road, you still represent your school....What a night and day difference in opposing player attitudes from Navy to WKU.

Sorry, but that is a poor rationalization. You can play hard in your last game or you can choose to play dirty. WKU chose to play dirty.
