UALR may be tougher than expected this year.

I think the BELT as a whole will be tougher than expected this year. Could be the best overall talent we've had in the conference since it was formed.

I think there is no doubt there is more talent in this conference, top to bottom, then there has been in my lifetime...its now just a matter of teams putting together that talent for some nice OOC wins like tonight.

Just some quick observations:

UALR is still lacking a go to guy...but you have to love the balance and depth for a team to put up 63 points with nobody scoring double figures, 2 guys with 9, 3 others with 8.

ASU finally gets its first win...and they got 9 each from forwards Shawn Morgan and Yima Chia-Kur, complimenting Adrian Banks (22) and Ryan Wedel (18). ASU's front court has done next to nothing to help Banks and Wedel so far...so signs of life in any form I'm sure are appreciated.

I'm changing my coach of the year prediction from Joe Scott to Joe Pasternak at UNO...Tulane is a solid team, and this is a very nice win. Most intriguing is that UNO is winning without heaping all the load on McCalebb, he took just 11 shots from the field en route to a team high 18. James Parlow finally showed up with 10...and Ben Elias finally missed a shot, going 3-4 from the field...hes now 11-12 for the season.

It could be very bad news for UNT and the rest of Belt if WKU gets continued production from freshman post D.J. Magley (6'10" 260). Magley scored 18 on 8-9 shooting in just 23 minutes...adding a consistant inside presence to that backcourt could be what puts WKU back on top.

ULM has now lost games by 29, 18, 3, and 24. Coach Orlando Early must've read my advise and started just 3 guards last night, but was hurt by foul trouble to leading scorer Tony Hooper who played just 14 minutes.

Troy trailed by as many as 27 before heating up in the second half. Troy has appearantly scrapped the flex-motion offense that I read before the season they would be going to, instead going back to their regular three point shooting fest...taking 34 and making 11 last night. Through 4 games (one OT session) Troy has taken 153 3 pointers, or just over 38 per game.

Tonight:

USA vs. Chattanooga
