Lamar University Football

“A football program on a university campus is a very important factor in enrollment management,” said Brian Sattler, director of public relations for Lamar.

Campus atmosphere and the "whole college experience", including football, is very important to traditional students and their parents. It is becoming a must-have for schools to compete, for both media and enrollment.

As my memory serves me, LaTech, Ark.St., LaMonroe, LaLaf, and UNT were all Southland Conference mates at one time.

The real shame of the Lamar & UTA situations is how their present leaders & students are having to suffer for the short-sightedness of their respective campus fore-father's decisions of over 2 plus decades ago.

I hope future UNT leaders & students don't have to go thru something similar in the next 20 plus years because of major decisions we are making today, specifically those being made that concerns our future athletic program.

We as NT Exes & Mean Green fans really are at the mercy of who our leaders are & what their personal preferences (or whims) can be so many times for the sake of self-gain without looking at the long-range results of (sometimes) too hasty decision. Probably more the reason we need to all hope that the future 2'nd Largest University in Texas doesn't get short-changed with a stadium (what else could this be leading to) :whistling1: that will cause as much frustration as many of Lamar & UTA's more progressives now know was a mistake for their having dropped football in the first place 2 plus decades ago.
