You mean when we get coach Dodge's son here as a Wide Reciever or Defensive Back?

Rick

agreed. Vizza is only going to get better... and Riley will be a terrific asset as a WR for his first year or two. The future is bright!

So what happens if Riley walks onto campus and is better than Vizza? Does Vizza move to WR or DB? Just being devils advocate here, but there is a very good chance that Riley could be better than Vizza and start immediately.

I don't see much chance of that at all. A full year of D-1 under his belt vs fresh out of HS plus a team that already follows GV. I just don't see it. But to answer your question IF Riley came in and won the job you'd see Vizza standing right next to Coach Dodge, not on the field playing DB or WR, just like you will see Riley doing his RS freshman year.

If Vizza isn't hurt, Vizza will play. Why would you burn Riley's shirt if you have a very capable quarterback with 3 years of eligiblity remaining? That sounds very short sighted to me.

That's a lot of speculation, and I think TD will play the guy that gives them the best chance to win. D-1A football is a lot faster than any level of HS, so there's a learning curve. Im not convinced Riley is the better QB, though he is clearly the better athlete.

You want your best athletes on the field at the same time. Vizza doesnt have the hands or speed to be a WR, Dodge does. And he knows the offense, the routes, and the reads. Dodge played WR the first 2 years at SLC. Seems to me the same thing could be done here pretty easily, and he would be available should Vizza get injured to fill in as QB.

Just my opinion. I like what I've seen out of Vizza thus far, think he has a tremendous upside once he cuts down on the turnovers- which is coachable, and will likely come as he gets a full grasp of the offense.
