Sagarin Ratings Out

wow so Sagarin Ratings are about as biased as the BCS rankings are for non-BCS schools. <_<

What a crock. Basically dominate the team the whole game and lead 99% of game yet they remain 20 spots higher due to their name.

Fantastic.

Just ignore the Sagarin ratings...you'll end up with a splitting headache trying to figure out their logic.

Here is another lame poll. The new ESPN/USA Today poll came out with neither UNT or UNO even getting a vote. NC State still had 21 votes in the poll and the team that beat them to knock them out of their place in the top 25 didn't even land 1 single vote... pathetic excuse for a ranking.

Even worse is JJ has a vote in this poll and didn't vote for us or UNO even after our big wins. I can understand maybe not voting for us but UNO deserved his vote after their big win. Whats the damn deal JJ? Where is the Sun Belt support?

A few ratings of note (regional and SBC top 200 teams):

22 Texas = 85.99

29 Texas A&M = 85.31

57 Western Kentucky = 81.71

68 Texas-Arlington = 80.45

73 Oklahoma State = 80.04

88 Houston = 78.71

95 Texas Tech = 78.10

96 North Texas = 78.06

104 New Orleans = 77.48

117 South Alabama = 76.48

124 Sam Houston State = 75.99

143 TCU = 74.41

157 Ark.-Little Rock = 73.62

184 Indiana State = 71.29

188 Troy = 71.24

192 Tulsa = 71.01

This week's Sagarin Ratings

The ratings system certainly doesn't view UTA as a cupcake, and playing at home you'd expect them to probably be favored in the game against North Texas.

Western Kentucky, as expected, has the strongest rating for SBC teams at this point in the season.

Perhaps there is a glitch in the Sagarin Rating system, but I couldn't find SMU listed.

You have to go all the way to the bottom and they are in all their glory ... #332. I thought I might see a NR next to their name.

Man, I didn't even look that far down. They are sandwiched between schools like Longwood and Sacred Heart that I never even knew played sports. Something called USC Upstate is dead last in the country; I am suprised SMU hasn't tried to schedule them.

Even worse, we only received 40 votes in the Mid Major Top 25 Poll, which isn't even enough to break into their Top 25. Apparently, the entire B-Ball world needs further convincing that this team is for real. Let's hope they provide this evidence in our upcoming games. Even one loss will have huge set backs for us in the polls....

It's pretty early. I mean, UTA is even rated above UTEP.

no - it is never too early to be spun out of shape about an early season rating system. I mean, in the preseason football polls Missouri and Kansas were barely regarded as top material (more so Kansas) and they are still struggling to overcome that. It's never too early to complain!
