Is this the biggest non-conference win in Sun Belt history?

I would argue that beating Alabama on the road is bigger than either of Troy's wins at home, over Missouri a few years ago and Okie State this year. I don't care how up or down Alabama is, winning at their place is a major accomplishment, and bigger than the conference's bowl victories (Rice, Cincinnati on a neutral field).

Huge congratulations to Louisiana Monroe.

some how my son said that we were better than Ohio State, cause we beat Monroe and they beat Bama and they beat KY and so on until we were better that most of D1 schools. The boy is watching too much ESPN before school. If anyone can figure how we are better than Ohio State let me know.

UNT beat Monroe, who beat Bama, who beat Tennessee, who beat Georgia, who beat Kentucky, who beat #1 LSU...therefore we are better than LSU!!!

BCS Baby!

Better than that. UNT is better than No. 1 LSU:

North Texas beat Louisiana-Monroe

Louisiana Monroe beat Alabama

Alabama beat Tennessee

Tennessee beat Georgia

Georgia beat Kentucky

Kentucky beat #1 LSU

So North Texas plays in the national championship game. Get your tickets now.

Also, North Texas has now avenged its loss to Oklahoma:

North Texas beat Louisiana-Monroe

Louisiana Monroe beat Alabama

Alabama beat Tennessee

Tennessee beat Georgia

Georgia beat Kentucky

Kentucky beat LSU

LSU beat Auburn

Auburn beat Kansas State

Kansas State beat Colorado

Colorado beat OU

And, yes, North Texas is better than Ohio State:

North Texas beat Louisiana-Monroe

Louisiana Monroe beat Alabama

Alabama beat Tennessee

Tennessee beat Georgia

Georgia beat Kentucky

Kentucky beat LSU

LSU beat Auburn

Auburn beat Kansas State

Kansas State beat Colorado

Colorado beat OU

OU beat Missouri

Missouri beat Illinois

Illinois beat Ohio State

AND...if Missouri beats KU next Saturday, UNT will have whipped the entire Big 12.

My last two posts on this thread should be nominated for the award for the dumbest waste-of-time-posts on GMG this year. I thank you.

It has been the most underwhelming upset even though it is a MONSTER accomplishment! Didn't this team almost take down the next National Champion just a few short weeks ago?

South Florida goes into Auburn and wins and pops into the top 20. ULM goes into Tuscaloosa and accomplishes what Southern Miss desperately tries to do but is almost alway unsuccessful - beat Bama!

Amazing job and I am convinced the SBC is better than CUSA this year. We should be ranked ahead of them in D1A. We have had some eye-popping OCC wins.

Love for the Belt!

The gap between the Sun Belt and Conference USA is closing, but I don't know that the Belt has caught up yet, based purely on wins and losses:

Sun Belt teams cumulative season winning percentage: .369 (31-53)

25 percent of the league (2 of 8 teams) at or over .500

Conference USA teams cumulative season winning percentage: .430 (56-74)

50 percent of the league (6 of 12 teams) at or over .500

Yeah, but those numbers are probably a little skewed due to the number of "body bag" games that Belt teams generally play right off the bat. Nice to see Alabama getting an opportunity to try on some of those body bags. Even nicer to see that the body bags were provided by a Belt team.

Wahoo!

Alabama paid UL-Monroe $600,000 to play that game.

Biggest win in the history of the Belt?

Money-wise, most likely.
