GAME NOTES: The North Texas Mean Green will try to remain perfect in the early stages of this season when they host the Indiana State Sycamores this afternoon at the Super Pit. The Sycamores opened their new campaign with a convincing, 78-45 victory over Oakland City. Unfortunately, the Sycamores were chopped down this past Wednesday when they were pummeled by 25th-ranked Butler, 76-48. After this contest, the Sycamores will return home for two straight matchups against Northern Illinois and IPFW. As for the Mean Green, they are coming off an impressive 82-73 victory over Big 12 foe Oklahoma State. It was the second win of the season for UNT, which opened its new campaign with a convincing, 106-53 win over Cameron. The Mean Green are coming off one of the greatest seasons in North Texas history, as the team collected a school-record 23 victory, while capturing its first Sun Belt Conference Tournament title. It will get a bit tougher for North Texas as the team will be on the road for its next four games. The Mean Green hold a 3-1 edge over Indiana State in the all- time series.

After dropping 78 points in the victory over Oakland City, the Sycamores fell victim to the suffocating defensive play of Butler. In the 28-point loss, ISU struggled offensively, shooting a meager 32.7 percent from the field, and that included an even worse 22.7 percent clip from behind the arc. Jay Tunnell and Gabe Moore were the only two players in double figures for Indiana State, as both finished with 10 points apiece. Marico Stinson and Cole Holstrom both led the team in scoring against Oakland City, but struggled against Butler. Stinson finished with just nine points and seven rebounds, while Holstrom shot just 2- of-10 from the field, finishing the game with only six points.

The Mean Green opened their new campaign with a whopping 53-point victory over Cameron, and the squad's high-powered offense was on display again on Wednesday, as North Texas scored 82 points en route to a victory over Oklahoma State. In the win, the Mean Green shot an impressive 50.0 percent from the field, and also connected on 19-of-22 attempts from the foul line. Josh White led the way with 25 points and is netting a team-best 19.5 ppg on the year. Keith Wooden also had a very strong performance against the Pokes, shooting an outstanding 12-of-14 from the field, while also finishing with 25 points. Wooden, who also grabbed eight rebounds in the contest, is currently shooting a sizzling 77.8 percent from the field. One of the main reasons for the team's early success is its play on the glass, as North Texas is currently outrebounding its opponents by 13.5 rpg.

The Sycamores will most likely have no answer tonight for the Mean Green. North Texas is fierce on the glass and plays with a scary attitude in the paint. The Mean Green should have little trouble coasting to their third win of the season.

76-59! Wow! CBS-Sportsline respects the Mean Green.

Las Vegas is not convinced. The Culver-Glantz line in this morning's DMN has NT a two and one half point favorite. Don't forget that Indiana State has 4 starters back from a team that beat Purdue 89-70 last season.
