Matt....are you familiar at all....with NT's baseball history?
In the 1980s....we had a program......really underfunded. I think there were 3 scholarships spread out over the whole team. Our coach (Phil Price) worked for $3,000....because making more than that.....would have messed up his Social Security.
And yet our guys..............somehow beat the #1 team in the nation...Oklahoma State. A team that had several future major leaguers on it.
Others may have more information about that game.....
For anyone still upset about losing to Cal Baptist, Northwestern State, who we run ruled in Arlington, shut out #20 Mississippi State today in Starkville. They were 2-17 entering the game.

Skyler is streaky with her control. She came in relief of Anderson yesterday and couldn't find the plate. Anderson had to come back in to finish. Against BU yesterday Skyler started well for several innings, then collapsed with 2 straight 4-ball walks and a hit batter. Does she sense when she's losing control or getting tired? Coach/player communication needs to be better.
As for the team, the only glaring issues I saw besides pitchers not consistently throwing strikes, was baserunning errors and batters swinging at pitches out of the strike zone. Do girls never slide into a base? A couple times we were called out just because of slowing down and standing up into second, or going back to first after a caught fly instead of sliding in to beat throws.
Yes, NCAA bids bring in a lot of revenue for a Conference. The PAC hopes to be a multi-bid league.
Texas is also valued for recruiting by PAC coaches. Plus, getting their teams seen to the middle and eastern time zones is important to an AD.
It would be a risk/reward opportunity for North Texas. We bring good men's and women's basketball, and beat Oregon St this season, to maybe open some eyes up there? Hopefully football plays well hosting Washington St in football this fall. Playing in DFW would be a good recruiting trip for the PAC.
I'm just not sure Jared is a salesman for such an endeavor. He seems more like a sit-back-and-wait for someone to call, rather than initiating contact and being a builder/promoter of the program.
