I'm sorry...is Auburn's biggest cheer not "War Eagle" even though they're TIGERS.

What about Georgia Tech - whose fight song references the "Rambin Wreck" - even though they're Yellow Jackets.

Eagles are who we are just as much as MG.

Dont think so...Ask the losers on campus who would say the albino squirrel is just as much part of MG.

Auburn is not referred to as the War Eagles.

Eagles is just as much a part...what do you think the road that borders campus is? Eagle Drive. What about North Texas email? Eaglemail. I could go on and on. There are a ton of references to EAGLES all around NT. Not even close.

Auburn may not be "known" as War Eagles. But what is their chant? Ever hear their fight song?

War Eagle, fly down the field

Ever to conquer, never to yield

War Eagle, fearless and true,

Fight on you orange and blue

Go! Go! Go!

On to vict'ry, strike up the band

Give 'em hell, Give 'em hell,

Stand up and yell, Hey!

War Eagle, win for Auburn,

Power of Dixie Land!

What is their on the field mascot? Hell they're about 50/50 as far as "identity" is concerned.

From UNT.edu

Read under "Eagle" and "Mean Green Moniker"

NT hasn't been the eagles in 10 years. But hey keep on cheering for the eagles........or is it the mean green.....I'm pretty sure Auburn doesn't cheer for the War Eagles.

Because what the heck is a Mean Green.

Then why have anything? Hell, if we weren't the Eagles, then why not put a freaking tiger or something on the uniforms? Did you not read the link from the UNT website or are you just being that hard headed tonight?

Your original point was to take "Eagles" out of any chant because that's not what we are called anymore. I was pointing out other schools have cheers that refer to things that aren't what their monikor is. Auburn was just an easy example.

So we might use a "Eagles" in a cheer. How is it any different for Auburn to use a "War Eagle" chant. Neither school is officially known by the other. Both are part of their school's identity. We'll forever identify with the Egle at NT. It dates back to the 1920's, and as I pointed out earlier is in the background of many NT things. Roads. Emails. Donors. Meeting rooms. Arguably the most iconic thing on our campus is the Eagle statue.

Give it up Courtland. You're arguing with gmg.com's most stubborn contrarian Daddy Douchealot.
