I have been totally entertained by Chris Davis for the last three years and am looking forward to his having another great year before the NBA shot. I am a true fan of his work, so please don't take anything I post here as negative.

Chris does not look right...more accurately, his SHOT does not look right. I saw him at SMU and have listened to the other four game calls on radio. He is hustling, setting up his teammates, rebounding and otherwise playing well. His shooting touch seems to have left him. I saw, and have heard Hank and/or George remark about, how often he is putting up airballs. He sometimes clangs them off the iron as well. This is not like him at all. Being defensed is not something new to him; other players have not affected his shots much before. It is almost as if he has a vision problem or something affecting depth perception. I'm genuinely concerned for a great guy and hope that he has been checked out.

Chris has never been able to create off the dribble especially well or create his own shot. He has relied on defenses being sucked in or coming off picks. Now that he has a reputation as someone that can hurt you, opponents are trying harder to not give him the open looks (not cheating off him when the ball is rotated, things like that). His touch will come back, every good shooter goes through a slump. But for him to do what he is capable of, Leonard and Jerome will have to keep playing like they currently are to demand attention, and I just wonder what Chris could do with a legitimate threat to score in the post that could kick it out off double teams. He has never realy had that (Jason Miller was close, but he was more of a jump shooter and not a post guy). Just my take on all this.

Iron I agree with you and I also want to add a bit. The other thing that happens is he gets frustrated and begins to force his game. This seems to be causing him to tighten up and never get into the flow of the game. He's forcing him self into the game and not letting it come to him. Like Iron said, this happens to all the good ones and I believe he will snap out of it. When he does snap out of this I expect him to really explode and then this team will be dangerous. Let' hope it happens Tuesday against the Frogs!

As for inside scoring, I can't remember the last time we had a true low post player. Jesse Ratliff did some low post scoring, but it was only in mismatch situations and he was 6'6". Who was the last 6-10 true post player we had with some scoring ability?

Thanks for your insights, guys. Let's hope CD breaks out soon; Tuesday night WOULD be a nice time to begin restoring his stats. I sometimes catch myself thinking about what kind of team this would be if the turncoats Miller and Erskin had gutted it out like Chris did. I mean no disrespect to the men we have, but those two would have made this current team awesome.

Speaking of Awasom, although he won't be able and ready to participate until January probably, I remember seeing him do some good work last year with limited minutes. I was struck by how QUICK and agile he is for such a big guy. I know he's not tall enough to be that 6' 10" post you were thinking of, but he's a reasonable facsimile of an Erskin.

I was wondering the same thing about our football players that play bball in the off season. I also wonder if any other players might try and join the squad...

I do love that Davis has really picked up the other parts of his game, especially rebounding. He's not at all a one dimensional player like he was as a freshman. The young man is a big time leader.
