In short, a 5 year old has a spiral carved into his really short hair. It's pretty cool looking, and there isn't anything offensive on it, but the school principal wants him to change his hair since it's somehow distracting.

A few things about that clip:

My favorite part was "it is important to note that Keyshawn has not been suspended from school". In other words, the only thing that happened is that the principal told the mom he needed a haircut, and it is a slow news day, so here come the CBS 11 van.

My best guess would be that for some reason the hair did cause a distraction in class. We are talking about K-1st grade, so it isn't hard to imagine. The teacher probably went to the principal about whatever happened.

It seems like the principal should have done something in August rather than November if she wanted it gone, however maybe it did not become an issue until recently, the story doesn't give much information in that regards, but it did talk about Hispanics with "punk rock" hair.

The design is pretty cool, if I were the principal I would let him keep it just for that reason.
