MOBILE, Ala. - The Sun Belt Conference will head for a neutral site and a resort destination for its next three basketball tournaments. The league announced Monday that Hot Springs, Ark., and the 6,000-seat Summit Arena will host the men's and women's basketball tournament in 2009, 2010 and 2011. It will be the league's first trip to a neutral site since 1993 when the tournament was held at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Miss.

Ironically, next March's tournament was scheduled to return to Biloxi, but a shortage of assured hotel rooms in the wake of Hurricane Katrina's devastation forced the March 8-11 event to South Alabama's Mitchell Center.

"Over a year ago, we decided it was in the best interests of the conference to begin playing at a neutral site," said Middle Tennessee president and Sun Belt president Sidney McPhee. "The executive committee felt that Hot Springs presents a unique opportunity for fans to attend the tournament in a first-class setting and at a resort destination."
