I believe this game will turn out to be "The Event" we all thought it would when it was scheduled last year.

Such a game as this you can throw out the records because we are playing one of our USA service academies on our campus. A big crowd has been known to light the fire of the home team. We hope it doesn't light the fires of the visiting team, right?!?!?

We have an open date this week, so there will be even more time for "buzz talk" for the Navy game in Denton, Texas, America. I read where Roger Staubach will be tailgating but will have to leave early for a committment; after all, he does have one of the most successful businesses in Big D.

I know there is no way to guesstimate our attendance for this game since some have been told Navy received anywhere from 1,200 to 8-9,000 tickets for their allottment; yet their board says this game at Fouts Field is a sellout? Hmmmm?

My guess: 25,000

I do think that having 2 weeks to sell more tickets for this game (since we have an open date this Saturday) might create even more local interests. I heard from a reliable source that the Alumnus Side at Fouts is already all but sold out.

i'm thinking it's going to be "bayloresq", as in a ton of people...29,487. not a sellout, but a damn impressive turnout for a 1-7 team. we might have many people that will show up just because it's navy, not because of north texas. i'm just glad i've got my 4 seats on the alumni side!!!! man, i bet our side will be looking fabulous from the student side. just hope we can say the same about the students side!

Plumm I am going with 36,255.

You know I was gonna say 34,000, but now that I think about it, I think it will be closer to 40k, giving our admin more proof we need at least 40k in the new stadium. There will be people sitting shoulder to shoulder in the grassy area along with folks with their legs hanging over the end of the press box areas.

i wonder if the athletic department would ever sell standing room only tickets or tickets on the deck? don't know if it will ever be needed, but kinda curious

My bold prediction is 28,500. Great show, perfect weather...why not? I'm planning on getting there extra early and enjoying all of the excitement; the atmosphere should be electric!

I'll say 24,000, just because of the opponent and crowd they bring. UNT = 17,000, Navy = 7,000. This is why we need closer opponents or to play schools that can bring fans. I haven't seen much marketing from UNT for this game, disappointing. Mean Green up?

What type of marketing did you want to see? TV? Radio? Newspaper ads? All of those cost money.

Division 1-A marketing.

Where is the money come from. The Ath. Dept. is not crying poor. They are poor!

Open up that big wallet and back up that big talk!

I realize the department if financially poor and does a great job with the resources they have. I don't want a $750,000 campaign like SMUt on some lame (yes, horse joke pun!) catch-phrase. There are some things that could still be done for marketing that are only time intensive not $$ intensive. I've told several alums we are playing Navy and they had no idea. How about using the computer to communicate with potential new fans? Not just the ticket holder's list they already send out to, but email some notices to new and lost alums or phone calls to push the game? As some have mentioned, use campus marketing students to market to dorms, frats, union rats, campus offices, nearby apartments, etc. Throw a "NT vs Navy Nov. 10" sign on the NT Blvd bridge over I-35E. Something new; many ideas we don't seem to explore.
