It is the middle of the week and I haven't notice hardly anything in display for homecoming week.

THe only thing I saw was a large banner that looks great by the Environmental Science Building and of course all the preparations our fraternity has been doing

for the homecoming parade. Just wondering if anyone else noticed this. It seems like this year has been the worst in terms of having stuff put on display and making others take notice that it is homecoming week...

Sometimes I wonder if our school can live up to other big schools who value traditions.

I saw some signs up on bus stop side of the union but there isn't much from what I can see. When I went to get Navy tickets for some friends coming to the game, it looked like they were in the process of putting a big banner up o the Gateway Center, the side facing the stadium but I'm not for sure.

I've seen banners at the Union, 48th annual Bonfire signs and an email. Banners at the Health center for the bonfire and tailgating, banners at the environmental science building, along with the battle flag hanging from the top in front, and football schedules staked in front of every dorm. those are the places I've seen this week, but I'm limited to where i work an have class...

All of the residence halls are doing a good job I would say. Today at West hall they had a group of people cheering as cars drove past. Also lots of chalk ads around campus.

Seems like in years past we got more mail about homecoming. I'd love to see flags, signs, party banners and lots more green. It's a little late for this but I agree we need more. Duh...this all goes without saying but I just had to!!!

You saw part of the "Chalk the Walk" competition RHA puts on every year for the halls. On Wednesday for the week of Homecoming, around noon-ish, judges go by each residence hall to view their spirit based on three criteria:

1. Chalk display (using the theme for the year)

2. Spirit Wall judging (a giant wall, pomped with toilet paper and decorated for the theme)

3. Overall spirit (the halls gather everyone they can find to go outside and cheer).

The year I was president of Clark Hall, we gave out Clark bars to all the judges. :)

The Chalk the Walk and Spirit Wall competitions, along with the Yell Like Hell competition on Friday night after the Bonfire lighting, comprise the residence hall activities for Homecoming. The winning hall receives the Eagle Claw award (which is great towards a Hall of the Year bid) and $50 (I think) extra dollars to spend on resident programs for the year. Will or several others on here can correct me on a few of the details if my memory is fading.... :D

The battle flag hanging from the top of the environmental science building is pretty cool looking. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I can remember some wild and crazy nights the week of homecoming. Maple and Clark were always 1st and 2nd in the standings for the Eagle Claw and it always seemed to come down to Yell Like Hell to who would win.

Yep. Yell Like Hell totally ruined "Heaven" and "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" for me. Good times.
